Does anyone know if Ministik will be open this weekend?

The gates were locked at noon
Called AESRD and they are driving out this afternoon to check the snow depth
If 6" of snow the will unlock the gates for us.
Will Post as soon as I hear back from AESRD

WARNINGS - There is still only 4" of ice so stay off the ice/lakes for a while
--- DO NOT STOP IN GROUP ON THIN ICE - you will all die!!! (See this every year)

And NO QUADS on the groomed trail !!!!

AESRD opened the gates to Ministik today December 3 at Noon

Tri-County had the Bombardier BR180 groomer on the trails and clearing parking lots by 6:00pm
By 1:00am the following was completed
The north parking lot #33 is all clear
The west parking lot #2 was groomed to it but will be cleared either Thursday or Friday
The trails in the Northwest have been groomed/panned and trail location laid down and look excellent

Will continue to work on the trails throughout this week

NOTE please review our website at for information/DANGERS in THIN ICE and rocks

Sorry to hear he got lost
I can sure see how it happens as it starts to get dark all trees and meadows look the same.
These trails have been around for 30 years but if he was just new to the trails it can happen fast.
Also he was riding alone

(On Sunday while doing Trail Maintenance we commented about an older man on a old 1970 something white hooded sled all by himself)
we see many lone riders out by themselves on OLD machines too.
It will take you many hours to walk out even on the trail
Ministik is 6 mile by 6 miles or 36 square miles of swamp and bush

recommend people is GPS to help find their way back to the staging areas/trucks

Ya GPS is kind of a given I would think if you're by yourself. Even with others I always have mine

We're abouts is the staging area? I live by Half Moon Lake, so not far away. May wanna come out on Sunday for a bit of a rip. Assuming the snow isn't all gone. :(

There are 2 staging areas we use

North - twp 510 & East of RR 212

West - twp 504a & RR220(south of 510)
twp 510 is a correction line so RR numbers change

And snow will flatten with this weeks temps
by weekend the trail might be bad

pray for snow
