The 17 footer im having built should impress.

Yeah I have seen the new convicts and a 6.2 should push it along nicely, but I believe that the 212 will let you down in the top speed department. Firefish builds beautiful boats but they are more cruiser type boats, I'm not convinced that the convict will be much faster or more nimble than a Piranha or Hammerhead, spring will tell though when more guys get them on the water. Firefish builds a tough boat, but all that extra aluminum required to make them tough adds a lot of weight. There seems to be a tradeoff there, if you build a boat light enough, especially in the right areas they don't need tank like armor on the bottom to survive a hit. Which I think if done right makes a light 2.3 ecoboost a very viable option for ligtweight boats.

Your right about the to speed but with any 8 degree hull your speed is limited no matter the hp, just to much boat in the water. The convict is a lighter construction than the hammerhead and the Piranha Firefish has reduced material where it shouldn't matter.
The water test I went on in Feb was with a Convict with a 5.3 and the boat handled wicked compared to my 19 Hammerhead so Im looking forward to spring for sure. And for me ill pay the 200 pound penalty for the 6.2 just because I love V8 boats. I love the ECO motor so far its such a nice little package with a big punch. I predict about 56 57 mph in this new boat.

I'm currently about 75% complete on my 12' jetstream mini. It has been a learning curve along the way. There is a reason why not many build these turn key. Tons of man hours and trial and errors.Their would be little profit margin in building and selling one of these boats, unless you has access to donor engine/pump packages. It's nice to be able to customize it to your needs though. I'm running a 215hp supercharged from a 2009 seadoo.

That's what I've found building mine too. The operating costs compared to a big boat are cheap though, I can do an impeller and wear ring for under $500, and the 4gal/hr I burn at cruise is cheap compared to the 7+ of a sportjet or V8.

My Hammerhead did 53mph I was running a 2.9 impeller and with the nozzle being machined now I am able to use different inserts.

Not sure what you plan on running for engine, but you will likely not see 4 gal/hr. Seadoo rates the 1503cc at 18 gal/hr. But that same engine in a boat that will weigh more and have more drag, mine having 1/2” uhmw. They will drink fuel

I'm running a 215. And yes 4gal/hr is what I get at cruise of 5000 rpm. Which works out to about 45-50 km/hr. Yes they will burn 18 gal/hr at WOT, but i only run like that for short bursts.

Reading this thread with great interest, as I am shopping for my next jet boat.

Eagle just built a 15’ Sport with a flow pro Hamilton pump and a de-tuned turnkey LS3 that runs on regular. Bottom has QT 100 delta pad. Boat runs very shallow, and is quiet. If your looking for something that can run skinny water with 4 people, this is great boat. Fuel economy is great, as you can cruise 3000-3200rpm.

Not sure on the price. Best bet would be to call eagle. Pricing can vary as to how you want the cockpit set up, as well as engine choice.

I think it would be handy for the skinny stuff and axial pumps don't seem to mind them on the intake.
