Questions Stomp grate.... yes or no on a 12' mini? Do it hinder performance?

I don't have one on mine, just a traditional solid grate with 3/16" openings. Originally my grate had 3/8" openings but the flat stones would slip through and get smashed between the stator and back of the impeller. I lost a mph or 2 in top speed and a slight bit in hole shot with this finer grate but the impeller and wear rings last way longer now.

The only time I wish I had an easier to clean grate is running in the lake and sucking in weeds. The river isn't an issue so far. That being said you'd have to ensure the stomp grate allowed enough water flow through it, these pumps typically run a simple 2 bar intake in the seadoo's just to keep limbs out of the pump.

I never had a stomp on mine the boat was so lite weight that even with 10-15 rocks in it would get up and go no problem. I had a fairly narrow bar spacing on the grate on purpose so no bigger rocks went through and wrecked the jet ski impeller. Boat still did 65+ mph.
