I was gonna ask the Cat and Poo owners to post pics of their 7000k pistons but they aint got any, They all melted or detonated well before 7000k.

Yah maybe 1700k that would be impressive for a Polaris. It's took my peace of chit Dragon 3 engines to get there. 6 in total.

No matter what brand of sled you think has more power, better handling, less wieght, etc......Nobody can really deny that Cat BY FAR makes the most reliable 2 stroke 800 engine on the snow. Diamond drive issues? yeah, some. spiders cracking, yeah, but it is VERY rare to hear of an engine burned down compared to the other two brands. Even running boost.

they do hold up well. but the chassis is outdated and i cant stand riding one. also the throttle response and power is sub par. but yes they do hold up cant deny that.

I'm not brand loyal ya right. Cats problems last yr electrical 3 brand new ones last yr all 3 same problems all the conections. Random reverse selection bunch of cat owners sure were happy to get this option. Then there is the wicked clutch setup cats running the Diamond destruction drive. The ancient chasis style, The list goes on. Lets see your 7000k piston out of your cat motor pussy. I'd take an etec 800 over cat any day all day.

M chassis is a tank for sure. Diamond drive sucks. But.....that is all in the past now. The new one will be sweet! At least thats what i keep telling myself. I took the gamble this year. Might love it......or be back on a Doo before winter is over. Life goes on.

Well all's i speak of is what i have seen personally. WE rented an '09 Rev xp 800 163 at 3100km took out pistons, we also rented '09 M8 153's for three seasons, the cats had NO motor failures or even any mechanical failures for that matter. One of the M8's got 5500km and the other one 8500km. I sold both m8's this fall as well as the doo after rebuilding the motor. So i just thought i'd post up some pic's of the pistons that came out of the '09 M8 with 8500km's and i measured the difference in piston between old ones and new ones: piston skirt was 4 thou difference, and the ring end gap on the old rings was still only 17 thou. And remeber these are rental km's not personal km's.

Just a quick note. Iwas talkin with some people from a brp dealer about the recall on the etec pistons. What they told me was that they hadn't seen any issues with any of the pistons BUT because of the bad wrap that doo got because of the 800R motors failing they are doing the recall as a proactive measure to avoid another chance of a bad wrap on the etec motor.. And yet there are those that say there was no issues with the 800R, well skidoo obviously thinks there was some issue there or they wouldn't have issued such a recall on the etec.. This is just my personal opinion.
