May 2011 conditions

What to say??? Belle and Lucille ride from the parking lots great coverage up top! Renshaw well... It is rough but oh so worth it!! First ones up yesterday had the whole place to ourselves until 2 just chased the sun around in 6-8" of fresh spring snow to the tune of 65 miles. Home again tired and sun burnt!! If you are on the fence about riding some more Just do it. Great riding is still to be had. Thanks Barry and Judy for the great hospitality in McBride!

Rod was up Lucille trail to see where the snow started or at least where you could drive to---about km 1 at the gravel pit is it. not much room for to many units there.
I was up Renshaw and got to km 5.5 no furthur and absolutly no place to park or turn around a truck and trailer.

Here's a few pics from the weekend. Typical spring conditions, still a ton of snow up top, nothing new on the weekend to talk about. Still, a bunch of fun was had.

You should of seen the way that tree reached out and grabbed my sled smacked me right off my sled and beat my sled like it was a rented mule

Guys that rode renshaw today said that they had to drive to 7km to hit snow, and it was melting on the trail fast due to high temps. Lucielle is still only about 1.5km from the parking lot and you are on snow.

It has been raining in the valley bottom for the past 20hrs or so. When i got a glimpse of the mtn's earlier today the top 1/2 was white. Not sure what the rain has done to the trails tho. They are calling for it to be a sunny weekend.

gate is closed and locked. No truck traffic on Renshaw as of now.

A couple of us headed up on June 3, anyone able to tell me if the lakes are opening up yet up top? Hoping to do some water skipping when we go. Normally they would already be opening but with the way this winter has been got a feeling I'll be waiting a little longer for a water skipping trip.

up Renshaw on the weekend. pulled the sleds to 23, about a km of dirt and snow mix on the way up but about 1.5 on the way down. lots of snow, still walking down into the cabin. have a yammy still up ther over the ladder, thinking it is a starter, snow was to soft to pull out. game plan being worked on today. had a mishap on the way up, to much load not enough tractor power and then not enough stopping power backwards so had to put into the ditch.

going up tomorrow, clean the cabin and surrounding areas. see if we can pull the dead yammy out as well. oh and ride for the last time this spring we think, at least the renshaw for the last time. pic's to follow.
