map sensor and/or temp sensor

I just spent a week out in the hills and my sled started to bog on the top end. I think I have it narrowed to two things the Map sensor or the temp sensor in the pipe.

Anybody had to change ethier of these?

I would be interested in hearing what your symptoms were before you changed out the problem.

I would get the bog from warm temps with the hood completly covered in snow (air intake clean) the sled would start to act up. Shut it off leave it sit for awhile it would work good for awhile then act up. Would always pull 7100 but anything above that it would start to be hit or miss what rpm it would pull and when it would bog. On a colder day with less snow it worked near flawlessly.

Temp or a sensor of some kind must be the problem. No codes were thrown, and the engine was not hitting the rev limiter. I had it in to the dealer before I left and everything was "A OK" to them.

What do you guys think?

Your TPS might be out of adjustment mine acted like that when it was out.

Good point, but I had it adjusted just before leaving. It is still in adjustment as far as I can tell.

I agree, but no codes come up. I can only think that it is electrical as I have been down to the reed cages and everything is fine. TPS reset and problem is still there.

Was there not someone else here that had a problem with their exhaust sensor that was not getting a code?

If a sensor is acting up would it still throw the code? (not a total fail)

In colder air the engine would periodically run proper.

If the sensor was still reading but not with the proper electrical current it usually won't throw a code. So yes you could have a sensore acting up and not know it.

So can you test the sensors or is it a case of replace and hope. The temp sensor I know is a couple hundred not sure about the map sensor.

yes you can test the sensors. I will try and get the page from the service manual on here. its kinda hard to eplain. But you have to test resistance values between pins on the sensors.

map sensor is $110.00 and EGT sensor is $180.00

holy crap, any luck on the spec on egt sensor think i may have did mine in before i got things straightened out, i know it has 9.14 ohms not sure if thats what its supposed to be
hope warranty will cover it again.

Mine was doing this also. Took it into the dealer an my water temp sensor was pooched apparently an they reset the tps. I havent took it for a test ride yet but they did an said it was good so hopefully they figured it out

Are you trying to attach page 4.12 from the service manual stating the ohms resistance of the temp probe?

I've read that, but it isn't to clear about a process for testing. I was at a dealer today and they didn't really know of a way to test either. Have you tested one your self personally.

i tested my air temp sensor and it was good, spec'd just like what the manual says.
