so just to get this straight you are ok with pipeline spills. and like a little oil with yer beer.

In the beer? What are you talking about? Unless you use the water to make moonshine then I don't see how oil would get in your alcoholic beverage..

“Light sour crude oil has a strong petroleum odour but this odour does not pose a health or safety risk to the public,” the company said in a news release.

Yeah the smell wont get ya, the fawking water will though, I like how us public are the end users of this water and it's no big deal because the oil companies have our best interests at heart MMMPHHHHHHHH

just a fyi, the smell may give you a headache, but i'd be more worried about the sour gas aspect. usually makes a guy lose the hair on his head, usually results in complete baldness, get yourself down to the doc as you have symptoms appearing already, man yer friggin doomed.

Dilution is the solution to pollution.

If this theory holds true everything will be fine.

This is sad, but unfortunately, we "all" are big oil!!. Not one person that stands back and comments on this spill and puts in his or hers two cents on what should or shouldn't have been done, wont pull up to the pumps this week and fill up!!
What the answer is I have no clue, I made a good portion of my living cleaning up oil spills, and the money I made I dumped into jacked up trucks, sleds and a bunch of other junk. ch!t im sitting writting this while the slip tank pump runs away filling my sprayer with my truck ideling away.
The weed I smoke, the porn I watch, and the young girls I chase all take power and plastic to produdce.
Untill we are prepared to drasticly change or END our lifestyle or pay three times as much for oil products ,this will continue to happen, and none of are ready to pay 30g for a strippers implants........

Dude there is sooooo much aging infrastructure in the ground, this is the tip of the iceberg!!

most of these where put in the ground in the 60's and seventy's, designed to last 15yrs or so, for lower pressures and not for some of the materials they are carrying now. lots of lower pressure sweet gas lines are now carrying higher pressure sour gas, that just eats the crap out of the pipes.

this crap has just started to surface wait for a few more years, trans canada has some of the worst.

I agree we all use oil products and by products on a daily basis. BUT the oil companies have been raking in major profits for many years and lining there pockets. They should have to start upgrading and replacing alot of these old lines. Because why should they be allowed to make so much money and knowingly putting our enviroment at such risk. As far as i'm concerned if it's a newer line and something happens yes it's bad but if it's an old line that made to have a life span of 15-20 years and it's been in service for 25years or more and something goes wrong with it then imo it is there blatant disregard for the enviroment and just bein greedy.

they usually sell off there old stuff to a junior company who justs patchs problems until they can sell to another smaller outfit, and this goes on till the government has to do something with this crappola.

Your argument heads south as soon as you start talking about "raking in record profits for years". Do you own any stock? RRSPs? Fact of the matter is they wouldn't be worth chit if it weren't for companies that can be profitable. No, I'm not advocating a scorched earth policy for profit at any cost, just point out we're all guilty of benefiting from it. Even in the tiniest ways.
