M1000 Digitron Issue - Please Help!

My buddy picked up an '08 M1000, intake, twins, boondocker controller and Digitron setup, pulls insane, however the Digitron is cutting out (display disappears) and the sled falls on its face, display appears and it picks up and rips. Since it's only a monitoring device what am I missing? Going to throw 9V on Boondocker to check for codes and then check the ground to see if that's a common point causing two issues. Anything else I should be looking for? Thanks!

Checking grounds is a good starting point the tail light one is really bad for it! But they were also hard on stators.
