Looking for some suggested mapping settings for an 2009 M1000 with a Speedwerx Y-pipe, STOCK pipe, Speedwerx tunnel dump can and a little bit of Linderman head work.

This is my third M1000, but the previous sleds were 100% stock so I'm not familiar with setting up mapping. I bought this super low mileage sled in mid March last year and have put approximately 1200 miles on it since that time. It came with a full Speedwerx set up but the cracking and re-welding of the Speedwerx expansion pipe has caused me to crush it with a sledgehammer so I'm not tempted to weld it again.

With the full Speedwerx setup, the plugs always looked good as did the piston wash. EGTs were never higher than 1225 and typically were 1100-1200.

Ive had one ride with the stock pipe and I'm looking for some advice based on the current mapping which worked great with the full Speedwerx set up but not so great with the stock pipe that has been re-installed. I reset the MAX temp readings at every opportunity and the highest temp recording, including trail riding and full throttle pulls in deep powder, never got higher than 1050 and was typically 950-1000. Elevation was between 3400 and 6500. Temperature was -8 to -5. I was able to pull 7400 RPM on full throttle powder climbs which is close to where it should be...might have to put some lower weights in the primary.

On the way down the trail at the end of the day the sled was acting like it was bouncing off a rev limiter but it was only at 6500 RPM. During low speed tree maneuvering it was sometimes loading up so there was a bog when getting back on full throttle. Never got the chance to check the plugs during the ride.

Current Boondocker mapping is :

Map 1 Low Med High

3000: 0 0 0
5000: -2 -2 0
6500: 0 1 0
7200: 1 2 2
7500: 2 5 12
7800: 2 9 20

Thanks in advance :)

A thought.. are you running regular or premium? 1000’s seem to like regular but I’m not sure what speedwerx setup requires. I think you will have to get ahold of linderman and get his thoughts, I would guess your problem is the change in port timing pressure wave.

M1000s were fun sleds, you’ll like more compression with head and the ypipe.i think in the day Dynos were pulling 180+ with that at 7400.

Running premium because of the head work. Ran regular in the older stock sleds.

Was trying to find my boondocker numbers but I got rid of all my papers when I sold my m1000. But that is way to much fuel for a stock pipe. I didn’t even run that much with full Slp and Linderman porting.

Haven’t had any luck getting ahold of Linderman so far...found some info on line and will try some different mapping out.

Got a decent dump of snow In Fernie overnight. Little heavy down low but should be good up top.

I think you need to add fuel to your 5000 rpm to 122 and definitely take feel away on your top numbers that is too much, cut those numbers in half and do some runs and watch your temps, I think i had my fuel at +12 max with my porting pipe etc. The mid range is lean so definitely get fuel added there and start dropping off the top till she cleans up. Also make sure your ground is good on the box and double check your injector wire connections, its odd that it suddenly changed after running ok which indicates something happened. The M1000 is a beast once you get it dialled in!

Thanks for the info.

I was working on the sled last night trying to figure out what was causing the stutter on the way down the trail. Cleaned the APVs and checked the servo...all good. Then started tearing into the wiring harnesses...found a broken ground lead for the Boondocker. Probably broke it while we were modifying the melted throttle cable that was caused by the cracked Speedwerx pipe. It was a fun ride out of Caribou Basin while tugging on a throttle wire. That’s why I crushed the pipe with a sledge hammer. Lol.

Here are my numbers for 08 M100 without flashed 09 map. Full SLP kit and 3500-7500 elevation. Ran excellent with EGT's in the 1200 range.

3000 0-0-0
5000 0-2-0
6500 0-2-3
7200 0-3-5
7500 0-3-9

Thanks for the numbers. I will keep them in mind while I make adjustments. It ran really good today after fixing the broken Boondocker ground wire. Couple of little burbles, EGTs were still on the low side and pulling 7350 rpm on WOT powder pulls. Plugs also looked good.
