I have a M1000 that bogs in over the hood deep snow sometimes. I have openened up the air throat from 2 1/2" to 3 1/2 and added some air vents under the hood it helped but not perfect. Would I be better off with a air filter intake? Also thinking of adding a y pipe, would i need to change the exhaust pipe? I have a "Thing" for a can. Thanks

I ride the deep snow whever I can..running an 07 M1000...the problem with Cat in the real deep snow is the side hood vents. They are right above slots in your hood that allow heat to escape. When the hot air is combined with the snow on those vents(only is the real deep or boondocking conditions) the heat causes the snow to melt and makes those vents wet. They stop breathing because they are wet and snow is sticking to them. When you reach your riding area and will be hitting the deep snow put two pieces of duct tape over those slots in your hood that are right below your intake vents and pull the round rubber plug on the inside of your hood. Trust me ....you will have full horsepower in the over the hood snow...when your day is done and you are on the trail out...pull the tape..put the plug back in and ride her home..this has come from experience in the deep powder....any questions let me know..

Tryed 4 intake systems...all have problems.
Diamond S Hood with Plenum, SW Big throat intake, just forget all your problems.....works perfect and draws only COLD AIR.

i've had the same problem on 07 sno pro m1000
my fix was 4 two inch slp vents 2 in the dash and the other 2 at the back of the y on the air snorkel.this way the motor still sucks cool air, not air with moisture from above motor. my buddies are still stuck in deep on their m1000's
but mine never seems to have an issue, and i ride for the deep. i almost forgot with this you need to put tape across the bottom of cluster area to keep the heat out.heat tape works fine

These hoods are awesome, strong, light and allow phenomenal air flow. Saves you on belts and power loss due to heat issues.
