Perhaps I AM getting pissy in my seasoned age. I absolutely LOVE our sport and our people. I feel thankful to be a past provincial president and the current prez for our club.. but there are seriously those that make me want to toss up the white flag and take my ball and go home.
I've always been Mary Sunshine... so now to keep my smile.. I've resorted to sarcastic memes... Frick.. how do you reach those who are simply leaches and roll with an air of entitlement?

It is just a fact of life. There are doers and not doers, takers and makers! Just keep promoting it in a happy voice. We do this for fun, those type of people have to live with their own thoughts and ways which is their karma!

So if I ride three areas, am I actually supposed to buy three separate memberships? How much is a membership?

I see you are from bonneyville. Most out of town visitors buy a trail pass which is very much appreciated. For me with my local club I have riders, who use our trails, riding areas, cabins. Throw big bashes in the cabins but refuse to buy memberships. Thank you if you do buy trail passes and support the areas that you ride.

Go on the BCSF site and there is a listing of all sled clubs in the province. If there isn't one you primarily ride just pick one and join. Trail passes help the club cover grooming and cabin costs but you need to have a membership to really help keep areas open and give us more power in negotiating with the government. The cheaper club memberships on the list aren't much more than a weekend of trail passes and it gives our sport a voice.

It's not the money. They gots lots o money and can easily afford a membership. Probably buy two if they thought it was worth it. ;)

I think this is one of those things that people tend to draw a line in the sand and will never cross. Irrational as it seems.
Crossing that line may be perceived that they were mistaken the whole time. Irrational again.

Why can't we get a province wide trail pass to cover all the clubs this way you can go any where you want

Well if you could come up with the formula on how to distribute the funds equally and fairly to all the clubs big and small, please share it with us. It's not as easy as you think.

I have been a member of two clubs the past 5 years.....it has so many benefits....and also by being active in the BCSF.....you would know that there is a current process happening that may introduce a provincial trail pass in the very near future!! Join a BCSF affiliated club and learn more!!

I assume you are referring to the amount funding the BCSF is receiving?

I am sure I am gonna get flammed for this but I wanna bonk my head every year a new thread on this starts up because it doesn't make sense that nothing from a day use trail pass goes towards the BCSF.

Just tack on $2 to every pass rather than trying to herd the cats towards the $200 + season pass.

Or why can't you just buy a $30 BCSF membership? (Make it mandatory to buy trail pass)

This is getting to be more annoying than the F150 sled deck threads.

I'll explain it one more time.

The management agreements our clubs have with the Provincial Government, that allow us to charge a trail fee for access to Crown land, DO NOT allow us to use the money for anything other than trail maintenance, ie: grooming. We're not allowed to just send part of it to the BCSF. We're also not allowed to make BCSF memberships mandatory to buy a trail pass. That would constitute exclusive access to crown land, which is not allowed under a recreational agreement.

Oh good, glad you brought that up as always.

Sounds like the agreement needs to be rewritten to allow money to be collected for stewardship.

Rules can change........
