Hello guys,
Slow looking for XP 08 or 09 for my wife, and because I have been a polaris-man for almost all my life (except 1997 when I had a AC 440, and 1999 when I had a Ski-Doo GT), anyway i have no experience with these skii-poos.
Are there any particular thing that I have to look in these Ski-Doos, before grabing one?
Looked at prices on kijiji today, they are ranging from 4k to 8k. Most of sleds have re-built engines, shell I avoid them and get one with virgin engine and do the engine myself?
Any inputs would be appreciated.
THanks in advance
Another question some sleds are XPr (everest Edition), others are just XP. What is a diff between them?

You should probably let your wife ride one first and make sure she likes an xp. Not everyone does. Just be aware that the newer model xm is a very different handling machine so you cannot compare the two. Just my 2 cents.

Mine can't stand the xp says the m chassis cat is good doesn't like my proclimb or my buddies xm but likes the pro rmk, definitely let her try them out first it can make or break her experience

Not to thread jack, maybe this question will help the OP out on his purchase. Which chassis is more new rider friendly, xp or rev? For comparison purposes lets say both are 800r motors, 154 and 151 tracks.

just checked prices.
From 2010+ from $7500
From 2008 to 2009 $5000
2.5k makes a lot of difference

2010 has the longer steering arm also that makes it steer with less effort .
I sold my copper 2010 163 x with air frames and completely stock
For $7500 @ 1700 miles in very good shape.

Agreed but to make it a "woman" friendlier sled you will want to do the narrowing kit and maybe t motion. That will cost you. I hope you like riding it cause my guess is if she rides your pro you are going to be riding a xp....

If she isn't "off trail" more than meadows and bowls, don't make it narrower. My girlfriend doesn't like riding my '12 vs her '09 as she finds it isn't as easy for her to handle in the corners. Its more stable. She is also 100 pounds and appreciates the electric start.

We just put a new shortblock in it. It is the updated block which matches all the specs of the 2010's. Has the indexing mark on the crank, the larger ypipe bolts and so on. So if you find a pre 2010 with an updated block don't be worried about it.

If you are going to wait I will likely be parting ways with that sled in the spring. Clutches just refreshed, shiny new shortblock, lots of upgrades.

The next question would be: how durable these engines are? 5000km do I need to rebuild the top-end?

I have heard they can be hard on reeds.
Few oil pump failures but all in all they seem to be good.
Compression good and runs great I wouldn't look at it for a bit.
Doesn't it have warranty yet?
Or non x model?
