Secondary education for $42,000 yr? LOL good luck with that. Add in the living costs of BC. I guess you would have to really love the work.

Camp work for $42k/yr.... Ummm ya. Not likely. Like Kelly says, there's kids fresh out of high school making $120k/yr in the north camps of alberta. Hard to compete with that. Gotta love your job for that.

You can see how we are confused:

" You must also be willing and have the ability to travel with short notice for extended periods of time, and work under adverse conditions such as smoke, extreme heat, camp-style environment, and in remote locations."

What is camp deployment if it isn't a camp???
The setting up and tearing down of forest fire camps. Doesnt mean you live at them, it means your responsible for the equipment going in and out.

One other thing you all dont seem so notice, its a job where you actually have to work from april to october, and in reality your busy season is july, aug and sept. October to April you pretty much are a normal government employee and sit on your ass.

Makes more sense but still under paid. But good for someone that is not concerned about money.

You obviously have a thing for govt employees and a lack of knowledge surrounding this position.

Actually it's not confusing if you read and comprehend it all. ;)

Ok so explain to us why it is such a great position to apply for. Not trying to be an ass but you seem to think it is a better job then some of us. I am curious what it is about the position. Are you saying you get to **** the dog and do nothing and get paid for it?

It's all relative. Do you really think you could survive on 42K a year and raise a family in Ab?? You would need a pile of OT to make it happen. What should a mechanic or a guy living in a camp etc. make in your opinion?
