Looked at a bunch and decided on this one, it's fast, easy to clean, and so far as run great, it's only a year old....we went with the 72" deck...does 12.5 mph

If the area is open and no tree's I would just put a finishing mower on a small farm tractor with turf tires, but with all the trees and objests we have the zero turn has cut the mowing time down 75%...we used to run a 42" mid mount deck on a lawn tractor.

I bought a Deere Z930A, 72" 7-iron pro deck. We have approx. 6 acres of grass and I can cut it all in just over 2 hours. It used to take 1 hour and 45 minutes to cut it before with 2 54" lawn tractors......now one guy does it in 2 hours....amazing. It will go 12 mph which really helps in areas where the grass is not as heavy.

Zero turn. Make sure you have a stand up deck for cleaning. Even if you have no trees, still 2 - 3times faster than a tractor with a rear mount finishing mower.

Also, make sure whoever you buy from has good parts availability. Too many "hardware stores" / sears" sell lawn mowers and then when you need a repair or parts......you usually get the "deer in the headlights loo"k and a shoulder shrug that they don't know how to help you......just saying.......sometimes it's worth it to pay a little more and get good after sales service.

54" 23hp Kawi vtwin. $3885 otd. I mow 2-3 acres in about an hour and a half. Waaaaay better than the ol 42" Murray Homedepot POS.

Do some research on SCAG zero turn mowers. Best mower out there hands down!

Does Deere have a model with a tilt up deck? I hate crawling around digging caked grass out from under them.

my buddy just bought a front mount jd with a diesel motor. its a f735 series i believe. 60" deck and he cuts 4.5 acres of 6" tall grass with about a hundred small trees in around 3 hours vs. 5+ hours with a conventional 48".
