Nice ride. I like the red. What did you end up picking it up for? Should be miles of fun ahead of ya.

Nice bike, buddy.... I had an '06 royal star venture royale midnite special.... Black with every option.... Lotsa good extras on ebay for these bikes. I put harley slip-on mufflers from ebay to give it "that sound".... Great cruisers. Enjoy

Find out what kind of bulbs... I could track down some LED bulbs :)

H4 bulb. Earliest ride ever for me bringing it home today, I've rode late March a few times. And I wasn't the only bike out today!!

my brother in law was out yesterday, and saw one breeze thru town today.

I did a bad last fall and changed where I park the toyhauler with the bike stored inside. still a foot or two of snow behind it in the shade. when my driveway finally melts I'll have to plow a trail

I was out in February last year when it got nice for a week.

the 1800 dont have timing belts. have chains, some of my American buddies have half million miles on there 1800s ,same timing chain. and a friend in Minnisota has a 2000 1500 with over 900,000 miles. changes the timing belt every 100,000 miles. no big deal. takes about 2 hrs. my highest mielage 1500 had 375,000 miles. has over 500 now by present owner. i wouldnt hesitate from any year of 1500. as long as its running ok of you get one that hesitates off idle, it needs vacuum lines and possibly carb rebuilt. thats no cheap job of you cant do it yourself. have done about 6 now. and dozens of 1200 and 1100 and 1000 carbs..

heres the odometer of my friends 1500 from 2 yrs ago. he rides 125 miles to work and back everyday and then then rides with buddies all weekend.

Thats a lot of miles on a bike. Very impressive!! Love the Royal Star Venture, It would have taken some work to get a Wing to fit me. Needed the bars raised about 3".

you said..." I know the motors need timing belts done about 100k " not true,,all the other GWs has timing belts 1800 has timing chain..my last trip to Nebraksa on my 96 1500 it turned over 900,000 miles... it burnt in my shop fire. i never had a 1800 2 wheeler..just a rolled trike i changed the frame on and sold it before i hada chance to ride it.. if and when i feel better, will find a 1800 trike.or trike one myself, here is picture of Odometer of the dam near million mile 1500 and the 1800 trike i never finished.. i would advise a nice clean one owner 1500 if u can find one.

Old thread revived but still a good read. My BIL just sold his Suzuki C109R and picked up a 2006 Goldwing. His wife is waiting on back surgery and need something more comfortable to ride on. The Goldwing is a great bike. I may own one someday once I retire and take on some longer trips.
