OK... I'm the forever optimist of our family.. Husband says it's pouring rain... I'm squinting... saying nahhh I see blue sky coming..

We complain about the media portraying us as hooligans out to destroy ourselves and the environment... but I really know there is some Bluebird skies out there...

In the last week I've done 2 interviews with reporters wanting to know the positive side of snowmobiling. I see threads on here outing us. Our own people chastising and tattling on each other, which, of course feeds a negative picture of who we truly are... nothing we can do about that.. we can say STFU all we want.. but there will still be the "yoda's" out there who figure they are going to be the voice of reason to the ones who choose to be reckless.. EVERY activity.. and I mean EVERY activity has their hooligans.. I was laughing to the point of crying when a lady involved in a Quilting club relayed the hooligans in the industry within her passion.. so let's face it.. there are those who will paint a poor representation of us Mountain freeriders everywhere...

I do have a plan.. how about post up your positive activities... and keep the momentum flowing.. way easier for a reporter to do a positive story when they know what's happening out there... (this is actually a request from one reporter I talked to)

So start relaying your activities and all the ways you are active not only in our sport but in the community in general. On season and off season. Put a face to the sport.. Way harder to come down on a sport when you have a reputable responsible face to reckon with..

Shred on Peeps!!

and how do u figure the best way of doing that?
im part of a the tail creek snowbirds sled club (stettler ab) and we are doing our best to raise funds for our community.
we are working on our second warm up cabin.
if we every get any snow we will establish a marked trail system.
our yearly poker rally raises funds for great causes in our community, as well as providing a safer oppurtunity for the whole family to enjoy our sport.
i encourage others to post what their clubs projects are and what they are doing for trails.(i wanna know where i can come ride) lol

Exactly by doing what you are doing, and approach the mainstream media with what you guys have going on. Lots of Pictures and personal stories about your members are awesome. Many of the Local newspapers and radios will donate advertising and public service announcements for clubs and organizations. Don't wait for something to be published about "Sledders" Be the face, the name, and the voice out there.

Awesome!! Thank you for being an active member of your club! :) It's not just about this generation... it's about the generations to come. The ad the Nelson Sno-Goers put together had a cute little dude sitting on a 120 cat. The title was, "Where will his kids ride?" Nelson Sno Goers, preserving the right to ride. Our newspaper put the ad in for free, as did the penny wise.. A local print company donated some posters for us to put up.. so the face of that little guy was out there.
