Linhai Side-by-Side?

Are they any good ? Reliable ??
Was thinking about one cause they wife wants to go quad with me now. We won't be hard ridin at all and would probable put a blade on it for snow-plowin ! What do you guys think ??
The pricing is pretty good on these as well. I've always been a brand name guy when it comes to quads,etc. But these side-by-sides have me thinking !!

Personally, I'd look at a well-maintained, used name brand before I went with one of them. I'm not knocking them. That's just the way I would go.

Looked into the linhai for the boss, not very good power to weight ratio. But sxs dont have a good p 2 w ratio
big horn21 is close to 1000 lbs w a 21 hp motor
Big horn 28 is 1400lbs w a 28hp motor
Yamaha rhino is 28+ hp but only 1150ish lbs.

Read the article a little closer... they are NOT part owner of Yamaha. They simply entered into a manufacturing agreement to produce some small (below 12HP) four stroke multi-purpose engines (think generators, pumps, small Asian market bikes) for Yamaha. Most other manufacturers have a similar arrangement with the Chinese as there is no profit margin to produce tiny cc engines anywhere but China.
Just because Linhai can make a cheap, tiny cc, disposable engine doesn't mean that they can produce a full size UTV that has the quality of a major brand.
Before buying one of the many cheap non-mainstream manufacturers, consider that dealer network plus the availability of parts and service. Easy access to parts and qualified service personal is critical to having an enjoyable vehicle that you will be able to sell in the future.

Yeah, me too !!! Well I kind-of bought a side-by-side. I bought a Geo Tracker !! :d
Pretty good price and in pretty good shape too. AND I can drive it on the road and take it to work !!!! Got some new tires and rims for it this week and been drivin it around. And it was about $10,000 CHEAPER than some of the side-by-sides I was looking at. Man, I could but 3 or 4 of these for the price of just one side-by-side. Will let you guys know how I like it !!

Also you can drive to where you hunt and carry a rifle,.. you can't hunt with a rifle before 12pm if you are in a UTV.

The Linhais are reliable and affordable. I am doing some contract work for Linhai Canada. I have a Bighorn 28 and it's quickly become our favourite quad. We also added a 3500lb winch to it and it looks great! The bighorns are geared quite low, and they're very capable. We load our whole family into ours! My wife and I in the front and the kids bucket seats strapped down in the back. The Linhais are well built and reliable, they've had the same platform for the last few years and they look a lot like the Rhinos (but are not clones).

Went riding with friends in a Can Am Commander 1000 - and we were able to go the same places and even got to tow the can am out once! The can am also got to tow us out once. To compare the Linhai is shorter, narrower, lighter, and has less horsepower - but those all add up to pluses on the trail. The Can Am can't do the narrower trails, costs 3-4x as much, and is much heavier. One advantage the Linhai has is the brakes - it has 4 wheel disk brakes plus a independent parking brake on the main drive shaft. It also has a robust steel dump box and a proper tow hitch receiver.

Apparently the weak point on them is clutch, but here in Canada there are inexpensive aftermarket clutches that solve the problem. As a friend of mine put it: "you can buy *a lot* of clutches for the money you save." They retail for under $8,000 here in Canada and are a great entry level utility side by side.

Feel free to PM me with any Qs on them. I hear that bigger engine options are coming for them, but the advantage of the 300 and 400 that linhai makes is they are well proven, low maintenance, and reliable.

that thing looks pretty cool. I know that you can walk out of Mountain toys with a RZR 800LE for $12,250 so for a name brand for a couple grand more that you know you can take it to when something breaks is almost worth it to me.. just another thought.. I'd like to see how some of these chinese machines hold up to everyday riding; not sinking it in holes and that such..

Hmm, funny, my Bighorn 28 weighs 990 pounds. I think you looked up the towing capacity when you saw 1400 pounds and feels like much more than 28hp, I think they've underrated its power

I know for a fact that one would NEVER handle my riding style ever. I need a tank to pretty much suit my riding needs

My buddy has had one for 2 years. he uses it for blading, the odd quad run through the woods and trails plus for backroad burning to get to where the fire/bonfires are. He has had a few problems with it but just wear and tear stuff. I helped him change a u joint recently, and the air filter(paper) which was below the seat got wet and collapsed when in deep mud. It has been tipped over, driven constantly and pushed through the same mud and bush that our bigger quads go through. The blade he has lifts high up out of the way when he's roaring down the street homeward at a blazing 65 kmh! Lol. He loves his Linhai and parts are no problem. Not much power with that little air cooled small cc motor but it starts and runs just fine. Pulls a large sized, wheeled picnic table filled with drinking yahoo's around the acreage with no problem, plus he has added an extra battery and upgraded the stereo for night tunes. So there nay sayers!

Does anybody know any one that accually has an Linhai side-by-side ? Wondering if they like it ,etc ???

So far, so good... my only beef isn't as much really with the machine, it's in how tough it is to figure out which accessories to buy and where to buy them from. I'm a die hard eBayer... you won't find a thing on ebay for them. Other online spots, you'll get an answer of it "should" fit, but no guaruntee, so if you want to pay frieght 2 ways just to try something. But a stock machine... great. t runs as expected, starts well. Never once been stuck in anything I couldn't get out of. I've had a seatbelt get stuck and refuse to come out of its retractor thing... that's been it

I would recommend it to someone that doesn't want to spend the $10,500 minimum on the big brand names. I paid $7700 freight in with a windshield, just tax extra, no plus pdi, plus this, plus that bs that too many dealers want
