Honestly it just becomes "normal" to us after a while. Its still a rush but ive forgotten what "normal" lake boating is to be honest. Thats why I love taking out newbies cause I remember some of my first extreme jet boat rdes and whats its like to learn what a boat can really do in 4" of water.

Downstream you wanna be going as fast as possible to keep the boat up while leaving yourself a lil extra throttle for emergency maneuvers and as much time as possible to think about your "next" move. Its all a tradeoff of course with the one exception that stopping isnt an option, or at least is a very bad one lol Almost equally bad is hesitation on decisions and they often result in sliding gravel.... or worse lol

I'd estimate there the boat is doing 40ish and maybe another 10 river speed added in at times.

If anyone in the calg area wants to go for a rip sometime just send me your info, and trust me, once your addicted to this , you definitely do this sorta thing(and worse) with your own boat LOL

Pretty sure you can wreck anything if you try hard enough haha

I just may take ya up on that swap, PM your contact info

Depends on the size and year of boat. Alloy jets hold their value like crazy because generally they do last a long time. Marine grade aluminum is basically unaffected by fresh water and you can cut and replace whatever gets really crunched and the rest lasts forever. Fibreglass eventually absorbs water no matter how good it is.
Cant run the Bow in city limits but anywhere else pretty much. Yes we get stuck and yes there are various methods to push out, most of which involve alot of work haha chainsaw winches are ideal tho.

Im curious about this boat at the auction people keep mentioning, anyone know what it is or have a pic?
Im SE, sometime should take you on the run upstream from Morley, few cool rapids in Horshoe canyon which can be fun for "newbies" lol (rapid in the one video at 45 seconds)

You can get a basic boat for mid 40's new so a used one in the 30's shouldnt be a problem especially with this economy. Just dont make the mistake of buying something too light duty or you get affraid to run shallow/technical stuff and it defeats the purpose. Shallow water boating is so much fun you just dont know till you've done it.

Oh yea btw do not EVER let me drive your prop boat hahaha :d

Yea its a 2 stroke , just have to drain the lower portion of the motor, which normally happens automatically on a Sportjet but the setup in the 17 is a bit differnent, just one valve to open at night. Ive camped and woken up to find the boat surrounded by a layer of ice, motor was still fine tho :d

Trust me the last thing you want to hear in those edits is the annoying sound of a Sportjet scene to scene to scene. I dont think most people realize what goes into good video editing, its tricky to get the mix of video and sound to go well together and even tougher if you're gonna try to use the actual tracks from the clips. (oddly the better a job you do it of it, the less you notice it) Most of my race footage doesnt even have sound cause the camera is inside a waterproof container and we dont run an external mic. Trust me if I have killer sound I'll use it, but most often dont. The sound I get from my setup is marginal at best. Overcoming wind noise can be tricky too. If I find a good tune to edit to, it makes me wanna work at it more to be honest, cause you end up listening to the song about 10000 times to get the vid right so you better REALLY like the track lol
