I'm not trying to get into a pissing match here. I just think everyone should know the ACTUAL info.

There is NO WHERE on that sheet where ANY 4wd has a 3300lb payload.

Perhaps the Ford website and their downloadable "sales flyer" are wrong?

People that have no clue on how to weigh there vehicles are going to wreck us having sled decks, your sons 1/2 truck is not designed to hold two sleds on a deck, get in a accident and they find your overweight insurance void, then you will have a nice lawsuit with no help,( hope you have lots of money). Also your son and others with 1/2 tons out there are going to wreck sled decks for the rest of us I have already heard rumors of sled decks being outlawed in some provinces, because of people being constantly overweight, and causing safety issues. So glad we have one more guy that believes a car salesman. 90 percent of the car salesman don't have a clue they are there for one reason to sell you a vehicle and most will say anything to do it.

The 's maximum towing capacity has been announced at a massive 12,200 pounds, while payload (what it can hold in the bed) is an even more staggering 3,300 pounds. It's a hell of an evolution for the "half-ton" truck segment, which used to stand for a 1,000-lb payload rating.



The 2015 Ford F-150's little 2.7 EcoBoost V6 will be able to tow 8,500 pounds with 325…


The new F-150's maximums will undoubtedly be achieved with the V8 and probably 2WD for the tow rating. I'm still having trouble imagining a truck carrying 3,300 pounds in the bed, but believe it or not the 2014 F-150, in regular cab 2WD trim with the 3.5 EcoBoost, is already up to 3,100 pounds payload. The V8 gets an extra 20 pounds on top of that. Both require a "heavy duty payload package."
A 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 6.2 V8 and "Max Trailering Package" is close behind with a 12,000 pound tow rating. The Chevy's payload rating is about 1,700 pounds in that configuration, maxing at 1,820 with a 5.3 V8 in 4WD.

A 2015 Ram 1500 with a 5.7 HEMI tops out at 9,250 pounds towing or 1,635 pounds payload.
Ford is keeping quiet on fuel economy improvements, cryptically saying the 2015 truck will get "at least 5 percent and as much as 20 percent higher gas mileage than today's truck, depending on the model." There are too many configurations to make an accurate guess.

Ford has promised that its new aluminum-bodied 2015 F-150 pickup would set new standards in capability from the moment the sheet came off the truck in January. It’s the sort of marketing speak that typically draws eye rolls—but it turns out Ford wasn’t joking.According to the 2015 F-150’s officially stated towing and payload numbers, the thing will be able to tow up to 12,200 pounds and haul up to 3300 pounds in the bed. The latter figure is particularly impressive, as the Chevrolet Silverado and Ram 1500 models can officially haul just 2270 and 1900 pounds in their beds. The F-150’s trailering figure bests the Ram’s top tow rating of 10,650 pounds and squeaks by the Chevrolet Silverado 1500’s max trailer weight of 12,000 pounds.

Of course, the numbers are seldom all that cold or hard when it comes to full-size trucks. While every truck shopper should be happy to see numbers like this, Ford didn’t break down its numbers by body style or configuration (although the top tow rating requires the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, and peak payload comes courtesy of the 5.0-liter V-8), so it remains difficult to draw any apples-to-apples comparisons. It’s worth noting, however, that Ford spokesman Mike Levine told us that these calculations are the result of following SAE-recommended practices, which state that the manufacturer should keep the entire vehicle intact when determining ratings. Ford, if you recall, was one of the few manufacturers not following the practices—in that case for its Super Duty trucks—before reversing course earlier this month.Even if Ford didn’t follow the SAE’s guidelines, though—and particularly when it comes to payload—the F-150 appears to have enough of a commanding lead that it could probably have six bumpers removed from each end and still come out ahead. And in any case, the ratings prove that aluminum—“high-strength, military-grade” aluminum, anyway—can work for trucks. We’re looking forward to loading one up ourselves and putting it through its paces soon.

never did i say i am in favour of a 1/2 ton with a deck and 2 sleds... Don't know where you got that notion from. We run a very busy service station, and work on a lot of trucks, and myself having had many 1 tons and 1/2 tons over the last 20 years, i do know what appears to be safe and what's not. I simply stated facts of numbers that are actually posted on his truck... Nothing to do with salesmen at all... Inspecting this truck frame etc verses many other 1/2 tons, this really is an impressive truck(i'm not a ford guy at all), and talk about performance. I won't admit to my son, but i think his truck might whip mine in a race(2013 ram 1500 4x4 with a chipped 5.7l enine)... And his mileage really is something. So whatever your bitch, take it up on another thread, that is already started about decks on 1/2 tons .... I'm simply stating facts about this truck

This is the FORD website Ric. Just show us a pic of the sticker. Prove that your sons truck has a payload that the 2015 AND 2106 Ford websites are disagreeing with. I've provided VERY specific payload numbers. You've provided VERY general numbers. The numbers you provide are for a REGULAR CAB 2 WHEEL DRIVE truck. As a matter of fact, here is the info you provided............ "2014 F-150, in regular cab 2WD trim with the 3.5 EcoBoost, is already up to 3,100 pounds payload. The V8 gets an extra 20 pounds on top of that."........... If that's what your son bought, then great. Awesome! But YOU said he bought a 4wd. There is NO 4wd Ford F150 in ANY YEAR since the beginning of time that has a 3300lb payload. As referenced by FORD'S website. I've done all I can to prove you wrong. Now, it's your turn to prove ME wrong. Banning me for providing information from the Ford website that show that you are wrong would be clear abuse of powers. I'm sorry that I've hurt your feelers here. As soon as you provide evidence that you are right and I am wrong, I will certainly apologize and beg forgiveness.
