For all that are confused, this is to talk about gear and if it works well or not. I said post pics because some one might see something that they like that they have not seen before.....and be like thats a nice jacket and it has a good review im going to buy that. Its not a fashon show nor is it to bash it just give people options on what to buy..... just like my set up is more of a sask cold weather set up and not for mountain riding.

509 helmet and goggles. great for keeping wind off your face

fxr team sx jacket, its warm......not alot of venting and with the floatex insulation its like wearing a plastic bag for breathability

arctiva comp3 bibs, very warm, nice and tall bibs with a wallet pocked up high, decent venting and knee pads but very warm.

boots i run rear zippered kamuk boots from canadian tire with a couple insoles to wick moisture away.

I must have missed the notice that sledding is a fashion show?

I like areas where people ride and wear what they have.

I rode out in Castlegar this year and was impressed with the friendlyness of people. How they were as happy as can be riding around on 10 year old sleds and 2 feet of fresh. Met some great people out there. All of them very nice and down to earth.

Coming from dirt bikes and seeing what's happened in the past few years, I see the same thing happening with sledders. Sad but true. It's now who has what and how much they spent.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter. If everybody leaves the parking lot with a smile, that's what counts.

Now I might have taken this the wrong way, but that's just my take on things. Apologize if it's way off on a tangent.

no this is a thread for looking at gear and finding out what works and doesnt work.

yah thats what i was kind of going for......i guess that should be stated haha

basically what do you wear and why???? and people like pics so post pics.

i really like the motorfist stuff and klim but its so boring looking....but its at least layerable and breathable

anyone have hmk stuff?? i like the snow camo stuff, its a bit tacky but it stays cleaner over white or at least looks cleaner

Unlike many I don't wear sled gear. I just use normal winter jackets (mostly snowboard stuff)

- Van's jacket
- Okley goggles (crowbar / splice)
- Bell Moto 8 skid lid - Retired 661 Flight
- Old snowboard boots bought for 80 dollars back in like 2001? Best investment ever.
- Cheap, warm gloves.
- DC snowboard pants (liner only)

I wear three or four layers under my jacket on top, and 2 to 3 layers under my pants. I bought some undershirt layer at Sports Chek onsale for 15$. Another great investment. I've been hoping to see the same sale going on and buy at least 3 more.

So you are probably thinking that's a lot brand name crap for somebody who made that comment. Well, this is true but its only because I can get it below cost. It's definitely not flashy gear. Mostly black/gray with a miss matching blue/brown lid. Haha. I don't care what I look like. I'm warm and well protected.

I wear snowboard gear, as thats why I load the sled up in the morning anyways. I got cold once, wasn't a big fan, so I try to avoid that again.

Arson outerwear 20,000mm of waterproof (Ie. super waterproof)
Pow gloves (several pairs, thin for touring up, thick for colder days, one extra pair just in case)
Electric goggles EG1S Great visibility, and I have 3 different lenses for coniditons
Base layer from Mec
32 Lashed boots (good for snowboarding, pretty soft soles though, mine are getting torn up from the running board)
Lots of layers underneath, and in the bag. Largely fleece, and wool.

Keeps me warm, dry, and smiling.

I've tried a few things over the years and found you get what you pay for when it comes to keeping warm and dry. I broke down and paid the large for Arc'teryx pants and shell...best thing I ever did. As to the rest, it's all just generic mec stuff as layers. Oh ya....I splurged on a pr. of Klim boots the other day because the soles of my old ones finally gave it up.
As far as modelling it all goes....I'll pass:d

Over the years I've gone to Klim outer everything with no regrets. Just got a good deal on Klim F4 helmet at Martin $360 if anyone is shopping for a helmet.

Only problem gear I have now is my Skidoo boots - they're about 4-5 years old model; paid $200 for them about they are constantly soaking wet inside. Liberal doses of silicone spray seems to help a little.

Are these boots a writeoff or has someone found a fix? Are the Klim boots more waterproof or what other boots are recommended?

HJC helmet, 509 goggles, FXR balaclava, underarmor cold undershirt, HH long underwear, HMK Action pants and jacket. HMK boots in white with the Boa system. No need for all the layers underneath. That'd be more dangerous for me as far as cold weather goes as I would be constantly sweating.

When I bought my sled they through in some riding gear like the Team Ski-doo Mountain Shell jacket (JUNK) :nono: the zippers freeze up, the inner lining fills up with powder around the bottom edges and can't come out so you end up wearing a snow insulated jacket after riding the deep for a few hours.
I wear Klim underwear with Klim socks as well (awesome stuff!!) I just wear some sort of a fleece sweater over my inner layer and then a Klim Tek vest over that which is very comfortable and doesn't restrict movement at all. Then the Wind proof shell. I use Klim pants. They are tough as nails and dry as a bone. I started out with Team Doo boots but quickly realized that they are also junk and I was tired of having wet feet all day, mostly my left, I now wear Klim boots can't remember the model... radiants ??? or something. They are dry but a little stiff. I thought they would loosen up a little after break in but not the case. I use a 30l ABS pack. Seems to work alright... maybe a bit big?
I like using moto-cross gloves anytime I can. I have a Shift helmet and lots of pairs of goggles. My favorite lens is the Light Sensitive dual lens..kinnda amber color... Great for all light conditions.
