Led headlight bulbs

Those projectors on retrofit source replace the factory one, three screws and they come right out and you put new ones in the factory housing, and then use the bulb of your choice.

Be thankful you got the V6, I've got a lemon thread on here about our minimax. Nice engines, but not built for the Canadian climate.

Have you done the swap in yours? I always worry about resealing the housing and then I still have the issue of the drl running in the low beam and I am not wire savvy at all to try to reroute it myself.

Sucks to hear about the diesel. People on forums seem to love it but I dont see many in western Canada posting (even Canada for that matter)

No I haven't done the swap yet, up until a couple months ago we had no intentions of keeping the truck. My understanding is there is nothing to reseal, you access the light in the same way you change a bulb except you remove the entire projector assembly as well.

I just did a quick check into the projector swap and looks like the "easiest" route to get to it is to cut the back of the housing off and then reseal that afterwards instead of the front lense. Being as I just got it I will hold off on that for now but did order some H11 SEALIGHT LED bulbs for the low beams I am going to try and also ordering a single row 30" LED bar for the bumper gap and that should hold me over

You are looking at the wrong ones. The mirimoto ones from retrofitsource are the bolt in ones.

Hmm thanks definately came across a different thread than that. I will keep that pinned for future use. The problem now is the only harness I have found to move the DRLs from the low beams is $380 cdn which is ridiculous.
In your search ever come across another option for this?

No I haven't. Personally I prefer to have my DRL's on the low beams, don't have to remember to turn them on in inclement weather or dusty conditions.

Is there certain types of HID that can handle lower power to.the ballast in daytime mode? Most i have seen flicker and reduce the life of them

no, HID's cannot run on low power.
I could be totally wrong, but I'm pretty sure that when I put HID's on my wife's Dodge a few years back, the kit converted the Daytime Running Lights to full power.
If you're dealing with a company like the retrofit source, you can call them...I have found that they usually have the answers to how their light kits work

I have been running the sea light leds in my 07 classic duramax for almost a year now and no issues impressed with the quality for the pride I got them for off amazon. Also got fogs which are almost brighter than the headlights! Makes for a nice combo, gunna get the Fleece chip too for this winter.

Not that I'm aware of. Almost every kit I have seen has a relay to supply full power to the HID's when the DRL's are on. Otherwise they experience the flicker and low life you have seen.

It is physically possible to dim an HID bulb, but I have yet to see a bulb/ballast combo setup for that in an automotive application.

I'm going to see how these LED low beams work for me and if they arent what I'm looking for will be looking into going HID and just let them blaze full powjer whenever the truck is on.
Really not sure why GM used LED set ups in the half tons but not the mid size. Seems like more work to have two systems. It's not like the mid size models are cheap

What is this fleece chip you speak of?

It’s a drop-in ‘chip’ at least that’s what I call it, you put in your fuse box to allow the All-Lights-On mode on those years of GM’s/Chev’s. Fleece makes them it’s the company name

My bulbs came and installed them. Very happy with the results now just wait to see if they last. Left my high beams as halogen for now. Might do HID in those and will be adding an LED bar for the backroads. Its surprising how much I end up driving at night without meaning to
