Just wanted to share my success with finding a set of LED bulbs that fit in the XM headlight housing.

I found this style of bulb on eBay and it fit perfectly with out deforming the rubber cap. I did have to use a heat gun to reshape the housing in two areas (1"X1" square) to fit the plug inside the housings. I didn't really like the idea of the plugs sitting in the glovebox. (Area circled in red)

The new bulbs are much brighter then the standard H4 bulb. The LED use only 1.41 amps on lo and hi versus the 3.45 / 6.15 lo/hi that the halogen h4 uses. I have no check engine lights or any other issue. It seems like a great little project for the $57 it cost.

LED bulbs draw on lo or hi - 17 watts per bulb
Standard H4 bulb is lo/hi 55/60 watts per bulb

I recently swapped out to LED too and if you don't put the rubber condom back on it will fog up the housing. The housing isn't waterproofed by the bulb its sealed by the rubber cap. I ran without the cap and the hot air from the motor runs right into your housing and fogs them up. The LED's i'm using have drivers and fans so the drivers won't fit in where the plug sits. I ended up putting the caps back on and just wrapping a zip tie around the cap to hold it a little tong wang in place....

Yeah that's why I wanted to get the plugs inside the housing so I could get the rubber caps back on.

It has worked out well so far!

It's amazing how much brighter LED is over the stockers. There is absolutely no need for that $350.00 skidoo add on.

Yeah the new LED bulbs are pretty crazy. I'm going to try the led light bar the next trip out and if I don't see the need for it I will more then likely take it off and sell it.

My original plan was to do a headlight delete and run the ski-doo light bar. But I may have changed my mind on that now.

Do you happen to have the name or link to that exact bulb? I bought an h4 LED replacement for my motorcycle a couple years ago off eBay and was not real thrilled with how much light it put out.

This is the seller I bought from. This style seems to be sold by a few other people on eBay also. I'm happy with the light output :)

Edit: I'm not sure why the price on that link is more money? Maybe they have increased the price?

I didn't even notice you were running a skidoo add on bar. I know people that run them and they have stock bulbs and say the LED bar works really well, but if you upgrade your headlights i don't think you'll need the additional lamp.

And the link you posted says 18000 LM? I would say thats possibly a typo as i don't think there are any bulbs even half that bright on the market yet. None that wouldn't melt the plastic anyways...

Yes I noticed the listing has incorrect info on it, it also says something about 90W. That may be in comparison to halogen bulbs. I used an amp clamp to test the power draw and found it to be under 20 watts per bulb.

I'm sure you could buy from other sellers and end up with the same bulb.

I bought a set of fanless bulbs off a guy in Kijiji from Calgary and they swear to the holy ghost they are Cree XML emitters and are 4800 LM a bulb. That's the highest LM output I could find right now.

I put a set in last winter and pulled them after my first trip to the mountains and went to hid's. My problem was that in a snowstorm they don't penetrate very far, and they don't produce any heat so your constantly cleaning your headlights...nice and bright in clear weather though...if anybody wants a set, let me know. I'll sell them cheap, they only have a few hours on them

Did you have any issues with this since? Bought a set yesterday and the plug doesn't fit in the housing.

I haven't had any issue with them. What do you mean they won't fit in the housing ?

Are you talking the power plug and the little box? If so I used a heat gun and enlarged the areas I circled so it would all fit inside the housing.

He probably means the plastic plug doesn't go back in behind the rubber condom. All these LED's have either a big fan on them or a giant braided heat sync. That has prevented me from putting the plug back into the bulb housing without punching out the plastic to push the components back in.
