Looking for a larger recoil kit for the 900 cat. Sled don't like too pull over in the cold weather when left outside over nite. I see Terra Alps has a kit, just wondering if anyone has one and if it's worth it, or if i might be able too find one around the Edmonton area. Any help is appreciated :d:beer:

I agree it is tough to turn over a 800 in the cold and 900 is even worse. I would be interested as well in a kit. as well I keep on breaking the recoil rope and d handles

I guess i have been lucky, have not broke any rope or handles yet. The 06 king cat has the tube for the rope, which is a great idea.

You can use a small propane torch to preheat the cylinders and make the engine easier to pull over as well if the bigger recoils still aren't enough. Have had to do this on lots of big bores, sometimes its the only solution.

In the past I have ( tried to ) opened up the secondary and slacked the belt a bit and by hand turnned the motor over a few times ( with the key off - of course ). I wonder if a different type of injector oil would help in these situtations. I have used AC APV oil and Amesoil Interceptor injector oil

Try pulling over an 1160 at -15.

here's a little trick I found awhile ago, when you get back from a ride, shut down as normal, later in the evening (3-4 hours later) got out and start it
VERY IMPORTANT-DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE let idle for a minute or so.
shut off and the next morning at least twice as easy to start, believe injection oil is burnt off so there is some cylinder clearance.
just my .02 ;)
