I just picked up a 17 king cat too, and it blew my mind! I had no idea how much power these boosted four smokes made, its awesome.
Im 100% stock for now.

Im wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why mine is roasting the belt on initial take off. Not at idle just when you try to creep forward or just initially start going,it really sqawks bad, less so when the belts and clutches are cool, like the first 15 mins of the day. Once warm its pretty bad. Its already had the update apparently. Gonna try cleaning everything really good, incase maybe some oil got on anything.

Which is my next question, is it "normal" for the air box too ooze oil? This is from it being upside down, but how much is normal? Also is it normal that they loose oil pressure and shut off once there on their side? Thats a real pain, trying to upright it with it shut off.

Both my buddies king cats do the same thing untill u get moving a bit squaks pretty good

Your drive belt should not make noise.
Your ROV is hanging up from oil contamination, it is part of regular maintenance the cleaning of the ROV. If you don't oil will collect in the intake track and air box(filter) and eventually drip. How often you clean it also depends on how many times the sled has been up side down.

Oil pressure light is never suppose to come on or shut down your sled. If it is because your putting it on extreme roll over angles for too long maybe a 4stroke is not for your riding style. Well over 90% of all 4stroke engine failure is caused by what your doing, putting the sled up side down or at extreme roll over angles while running.
Do you have a tether?

Yeah i have a tether and wear it all the time. The oil pressure will drop off anytime its tipped over too much, like say trying to whip a nut, and it washes out, if im not fast enough to pick it up, it shuts down.
Thanks for the tips, ill check that ROV asap, make sure its ok. Sleds only got just a bit over 700 kms now, only 100 of that with me, so definatly still learning all her tricks.

Make sure the oil level is within the red lines on your tank.

The engine is what is called a "dry sump" system. The oil is kept in a separate tank(sump) and the oil is fed to the crank by a high pressure pump via a pickup tube inside the sump.
This allows for the vehicle to be operated in adverse positions but within reasons, if the sled is tipped too far the oil pickup can be exposed causing the oil pump to cavitate and this can lead to engine damage. Thus the importance of not allowing your 4 stroke to run on its side too long and never up side down.


If you think this is just a 4 stroke problem, well its not. Even a 2 stroke can easily be harmed if ran at an adverse angle, especially when the oil tank is below half.
I have seen plenty with blown cranks shortly after they had gone upside down. The oil in the tank opens up the oil supply hose to the air and the injection pump air locks. Unknowingly to the rider the oil system fails to push the air out and bingo...she's coming home on a rope knowing only that the crank failed...but why.

With your new 4 stroke understand the systems, use it strength and advantages for what it was design to do and your going to have it a long time. If you like flipping it on its side and tossing it up side down, maybe a 2 stroke would suit better.

Thanks for your input, i appreciate any help as there is a massive lack of info regarding four strokes
Been reading as much as I can find, such as all the sidewinder stuff i found here, but seems like anyone with real knowledge is hard to come by.

How about when the engine is off? Do these King Cats require a aftermarket roll over valve like the 1100T?
