Trudeau will block it. It's a non starter until we get a new federal government.

It'll be the only issue that he can "stick it to Trump" on and he's going to kick that political football as many times as he can.
didn't the supreme court rule against the no more pipelines legislation, as being unconstitutional?

My understanding is that some other smaller pipelines were converted to feed a portion of what Keystone XL would have. Is there even a sound business case for any company to spend billions $ building it anymore?

All i know is we are pumping out unprecedented amounts of diesel from our facility (double the normal) that we have never done before for any length of time.....and its still not enough. They want more more more. I have no idea where it all goes (2/3rds is by rail car) but they cannot physically fill the cars any faster and they want more. Are the wars consuming it? The demand is there and prices haven't gone down any so it is being used somewhere. Cannot see how another pipeline would be hard to justify.

Was it a year ago that a mini panic ensued because strategic diesel reserves were down to two months worth? Maybe that's still being corrected.

They keep shutting down refineries and no new ones are being built.

The north eastern US still relies heavily on fuel oil (diesel) for heating. Being the reason diesel is now also way more than gasoline in the winter, just simply more demand in the winter.

I've been talking to a few higher up types in my industry (heavy equipment for construction/mining/pipeline). They pretty much all share the same sentiment. No energy companies are going to do propose/build anything significant until the federal government changes. We all know the liberals hate anything that uses natural resources, the world spins because of hugs and warm feelings in their eyes... If the conservatives manage to win a majority next fall we will likely see a good resource boom out west (and a manufacturing boom out East I hope too). But I'm not getting my hopes up until projects are approved and shovels hit the ground. Watching Trump tear Trudy down next year is going to be entertaining though.

The US is preparing for war, maybe now that trump is at the helm, that may not happen, but there is an increase of military in the Pacific reactivating old WW2 bases.

I am wondering how bad Trumps 25% tariff is going to be on Production. I didn’t read any yet that oil and Gas is exempt.

On Ched today they said that Smith was not in support of the Keystone pipeline, she is not investing any further funds or efforts in that pipeline.
To clarify she said she would fully support a private company and spend some money to guarantee that that company had a smooth transition and worry free process from Alberta. She would like to see a US partner in the process but yes they won’t spend money on the pipeline like Kenney did.
