kawi 2wd/4wd actuator

[KVF 700]

2006 kvf 700. 2wd/4wd light on screen flashes back and forth, book says the actuator that engages the 4x4 is the problem. however the 2wd/4wd light always seems to be flashing for one reason or another but has never caused any problems until now. THE 4X4 WONT ENGANGE. any ideas?

Had the same problem on a 03 Kodiak. Had to replace the actuator. The electric motor was getting worn out. Works good now. Heads up, these are not cheap. I believe it was about $500 from a dealer. No aftermarket available. Could be something as easy as a bad connection in the wiring plug. Hope this helps.

you can pull the actuators apart and clean them up. just make sure you put them back together exactly the way you took them apart. theres a video how to on MudInMyBlood Forums

hi i have a 2006 KVF700 and i had a problem about a year ago with the 4x4 selector on the screen flash between 2wd and 4wd but the 4wd wouldnt work it ended up being a fuse under the seat also when that happens the electronic braking actuator wont work hope this helps anyone out.

O yes... I ended up just pulling the actuators (engine brake and 4x4) off and since they are identical, switched them around, turn the key on and off a few times letting the computer do it's thing, and put the actuators back in their original spots and it works now...
