If you look closely around 23 seconds it looks like a person being ejected into the ditch, so possibly they weren't wearing a seatbelt

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with anybody, but it's possible the guy in the black vehicle was driving erratically prior to the wreck....I mean, why else would buddy be filming it? Just a thought, please don't flame me. lol.

You know guys it doesn't come down to 2 or 4 wheel drive, ive responded to hundreds of accidents over my years with the fire dept and it comes down to just not paying attention for that one second and not driving to the road conditions... Heres the sad part, some of you on here say its his fault which maybe true but what about the passangers? Maybe the driver had a family trip to the ski hill planned maybe he had a wife in labor and was racing to the hospital (i use these examples because ive been to accidents where this has been the case).

This video was posted so we can watch it and go "WOW maybe i should slow down a bit" dont bash the poor soul, instead show your respect by learning by there mistake.

Re: just shows you have fast your life can change

I did a bit of looking and found a longer video of this accident. This happened in Russia. I am not going to comment where to place the blame as "chit" happens in life for good and bad and unfortunately we are all guilty of pushing the envelope from time to time. And if you say not me then I call BS. Apparently all they found was the guy's leg and he was driving home after work (comments indicated at the bottom of the video - not sure how accurate they are). Anyway, just take care everyone so that you can get back safely to your families and leave the explanations / reasons to a higher power as obviously this was his time. :(

It has been my experience that people tend to get overconfident when they have the so called "best tires\best awd" etc, they will drive way too aggressively for road conditions and their own driving skills. Being in 4wd just gives that false sense of security that can cause a driver to be a bigger hazard than normal.
If we are all honest with ourselves and each other we will admit that in 4wd we drive faster than we would in 2wd, but we are not going to stop any faster are we?
I am also licensed as and have driven professionally and see examples of this all the time, still doesn't stop me from doing it myself sometimes. As has been said before what happened is a shame and hopefully we can take a lesson from it . My2cents

Off the record and not as a Super Mod

What do you do for a living?
Do you work in a office(and I respect those who do)
Or do you work on the road?
Yes.... you did see snow oin the center line, please tell me how 4wd would have kept him straight, when one goes into a 4wd drive spin. I'm sure you know what that is!

From the begining the driver is in control, and has done nothig wrong untill ch!t happened. 5-10 mins prior would have told you he/she had their foot into it and wanted to make time. Maybe, or Maybe NOT...............................

But if he/she/it would have kept in in a straight line, and the accident would have been prevented. Please explain to me, who is just a regular guy how you think that this could have been prevented???????

I don't agree with everything that teeroy has to post, but in this thread. My brother has my back!!!!

Once again...... This is coming from a person to a person, not a SUPER MOD.

Accidents are preventable!

I cant believe some people on here lol. No one person on here or in that vehicle can say 4wd would have saved the accident.

However I do know that if I was to catch the snow I would much rather be in 4wd than 2wd. I don't care how smart you are or how many millions of miles you drive you have no say on if or when or what would have helped the outcome or prevent an accident.

THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN 100% REPLICATE AN ACCIDENT!!! But as we seen it looks to be driver error.

I must not drive enough like some on here. I only do about 70K a year for the last 20+yrs in the patch and my experience has shown that a good winter tire preferably studded makes all the difference in the world.
Not gonna armchair QB the video but in my little world I'm gonna roll on deep lug studded winter tires in 4x4. Yeah, I'll stop the same as everyone (who have winter tires) but I'm not going to have the azz come loose on me in straight line either.
To say the proper tires and 4x4 doesn't give you better control is foolish IMO.

Can ANYONE honestly say that they haven't looked away from the road for a split second to take a drink, light a smoke, answer your phone, read a text, change the radio station, check the tie downs on your machines, or even sneeze/cough? Exactly. So pull your head out of your ass, put your ego away and take from this a simple message: Enjoy every second you have, because everything can be gone in the blink of an eye.

Re: just shows you have fast your life can change

I was coming home from the mac just this saturday morning. From atmore to the manning freeway was semi-controlled slide a little more mild then that one though. its unfortunate that nothing could have been done besides not being in that place in time.
