nothing wrong with the engine technology. i really hope it does come out in a mountain specific chassis.

ive been waiting for 2 years for doo to release there 1200 in the summit chasssis.

my concern is with the chassis in the photo. which is all we have right now.

tell me about it, all the technology in the world. We can fly to the frickin moon yet we cant get a 4 stroke in a mountain chassis under 550lbs.

yes and if cat does do this it will open up a whole new market other than yamaha which is the only choice at the moment.

ive yet to see a turbo 2 stroke run reliably and consistant all season with the exception of one or two. and with that they dont get the miles some do.

a lighter 4 stroke mountain is in need and whether it be cat or doo im watching and waiting.

also i know doo 600 4 strokes are getting damn near 200hp with a turbo. why do we have to go 1100,1200 cc that might be some extra weight. i think an 800cc 4 stroke with some boost is the ultimate sled...not everyone wants 350 horse these 1000,1100,1200 are capable of

Exactly. I'd love to see a small block motor with a turbo building power close to what the two strokes are doing. I think those turbo phasers worked pretty good, they just weren't necessarily better than the 800 class two strokes that you could buy off a showroom floor so that trend died off.

I would have to say the sled in the picture is a trail sled as well, but with some modifications along the same lines as to what Polaris is doing with the RUSH chassis, we could quite possibly see a 4 stroke turbo mountain sled from Arctic Cat this year that looks similar to the trail sled picture and handles like a M sled.

Well I know a quite a few 2 stroke turbos that have over 3000 miles on them and still working great. Just wanted to share that with everyone.

I have never heard of one turbo'd phazer that worked well for any length of time. :D I've personally seen 5 with blown motors. Some small block engines were never designed with a turbo in mind and the higher compression of the Phazer does not lend itself well to the addition of boost it seems.

As for the new cat.........well I think a lot of people said the XP was going to explode when it hit the first pinecone didn't they? ;) The Sno Pro chassis under this sled should be able to take a hit or two......the basis for it has bee n running on the track for a couple years in stealth mode I think ..... You can't really expect to be able to bash into stumps/rocks with it and not wreck anything, similarily to every other brand.

Well, fair enough. I was only speaking from a performance perspective. Them's details that an OEM could figure out though I'm sure (different heads, etc.)

By the looks of what i've been told just recently the M1000 is gone and replaced with a lightweight M1100 and M1100 turbo. They will be four strokes. And they are gonna take like 90lbs or more off of the current model four stroke turbo for the mtn chasis version.

not sure how they are going to shave 90lbs. thats like carbon fibre territory

Fairly easly actually because right now it is in the twin spar chasis which is heavy because it is a trail chasis not a light weight mtn chasis. I think it'll be fairly easy with a new chasis.

that thing looks like robo cop or something....

i could see a 1100 turbo coming in around the 525lbs mark in a mtn chassis. I mean cat is not going to release a new chassis a 480lbs ish when the current benchmark is 430lbs mark. If a 2 stroke sled came in at 445ish... give or take, 80lbs for the 4 stroke engine, that would make 525. Most of the doo 4 stroke turbos, with stock xp components are coming in around the 525 -545 mark. Which is on par cause we all know a complete CF chassis 4 stroke weights 485 if i remember correct. i know if it was 525 or less i would buy it, it wasnt much more than 5 years ago the standard sled weighed in at 500lbs with less power... right?
