Make sure they put the 377 belt on or whatever it is that is the better belt, the cheaper one they put on ours right away was coming apart at 300 miles. We found this out becuase at 300 miles the wiring harness rubbed through in a spot and was grounding out the stator, another recall, but had to tow it home nontheless.

Something else that is not a warranty but should be addressed there is two wires that go behind the chaincase, easy to spot, wrap them in extra tape or something, there is a rivet on the frame that will also rub the wires to the wire and cause electrical problems.

Nope that should be all you need to get done, You will love this sled but expect it to take a good day of riding before you get the "feel" of it. Very different than anything I ever rode before.

The two wires behind the chain case I think is covered under one of the other updates. The newer updates also cover the wires under the tail light cover that get pinched and short (blow fuse). There is also an updated to make the fuel gage read less erratic, but don't expect it to be perfect even after the fix. I think all of this stuff is covered under the latest "electrical updated"

I would ask them about all three of these things to be sure though.

Make sure you get the 377 belt for sure. Make sure the spare you buy is 377 also ($ouch). When they change the gearing, you can also ask them about adding a bit if weight to the clutch, although it will be hard to say if you need it till you ride it. Mine needed a bit of weight and they were happy to add it. I think they change my top gear to a 19T, can't remember now for sure.

I also added a small vent (some will say too small - but it helps let the trapped heat out) to the belt side, and I pulled all the foam and removed/cut some of the plastic out around the clutch cover. These will not be covered in any updates and the dealer won't help you do this. The foam and plastic is there to keep sound down for EPA regs. But it also keeps heat in. If the clutch is working well, it should not generate massive amounts of heat to personally I think the excess venting is treating the wrong problem but opinions vary.

Also, pull all the ugly factory warning labels off while the sled is still fairly new and the glue is not too hard.

The gearind was an update done under warranty b/c the gearing on the 154 was too high. I opted for the 19tooth and am very happy with it. Youwon't know about the weight until you ride it and see what your rpm's are doing

You gotta wonder what BRP was thinking, 21T and 20T are more for trail sleds, you know sleds that go fast on packed snow.

19T is more for sleds running in deep powder. Why would BRP put trail gears in a mountain sled? Only the sled with the longest track had the right gears, the other tracks all had to be re-geared, cause someone at BRP thought people would run mountain sleds mostly on groomed trails. Oops.

I ride a 08 Summit x 800 also and if you haven't pulled the clutch and cleaned it yet,it's probably due. I did my buddies on the weekend. He had only 350 kms and his arms were very sticky. The arms would not even sway when held by the pin. Mine was the same at the first cleaning.Checked it again the other day with with 1800 miles on it and the arms still move freely. It's needed most after the breakin period.

After the first ride, the arms will be sticky on the TRA7. It is due to some sort of assembly lube or protectant. Pop the arm pivot pins out and stick them in the chuck of your cordless drill...spin 'em up one side of a time holding a scratchpad on the open end....cleans the goop off.

This is a pin from my 07 after two rides. My 09 was the same. After about the 3rd cleaning they start to stay freed up.

I always pull the clutch right off (need a puller), but technically, you could do it in the chassis by taking off the bolt, and just removing the "hat" (governor cup). It's nice to have the keepers to hold the 6 pucks in place when removing and installing the "hat". With the governor cup off, you can remove and clean the arm pivots.

If you're new to Doo clutching/maintenance, its probably best to get someone to show you the ins and outs the first time.

do the 20t! 19 sucked! Add air vents, airbox mod, add a head(they work awesome) add 10hp in the mid and 5 up top, had a 08 last year and loved it!
