Thinking of taking the boy to McBride in a couple weeks. He's riding a 1998 summit 500 liquid cooled, just wondering if I should bother rejetting or do you guys think it will be fine.I'm sure will we will only be riding the meadows around the cabins just don't want to have any issues with starting and fouling plugs.Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I was gonna do the same with my kid and the old 97 skidoo 670 - his has the stock altitude compensation - not sure if it works or not so I was gonna bring a few different sizes jets with me just in case

Here is how Ski-Doo jet their sleds. I had a 97 Mach Z stock jetting 380 mains. I ran 290s. Other manufactures I tended to drop at least 5 sizes from what the manufacture specified. My sleds ran way better.

If you never jetted this sled, all Doo's in this mid 90's era, came jetted for Sea Level. Move your jets to Edmonton's elevation and you should be ok. I had a 97 Summit 583 and that's all I ever did. If it was later in the year, I would suggest jetting for temperature as well

I would just jet for the elevation of Valemount. Carry a couple of extra jets incase, but doubt you'd need them. And doo a couple of plug checks

500 SL was a Fan cooled bud. You are thinking of a Formula 500 was liquid short track. Never argue with an ex SkiDoo dealer lol

Then the SLS was the liquid. I had a new 95 500F and wanted the 500 liquid, but couldn't afford it at the time. then ended up getting a new 97 Summit 583 with a blue hood and HAC........ and I will argue with any type of dealer.... LOL

Sorry to hi-jack this thread

My kid has a ‘99 summit 500 LC. HAC removed and we were just in Valemount family day weekend, -8 to -13
PTO 280, Mag 260, 45 pilots, air screws out 2 turns. She was a tad lean at idle in the staging area but perfect up top both days. Ride Allen.
