Yes I am set for life.
My point is it is not the workers but the management.

I agree. The fat needs to be trimmed. You can’t have one manager for every three people. What I found amazing in Grande Prairie this year is we had a record amount of road construction. Some of these guys had the best years they’ve ever had working in that industry. No one is talking about that.

Road construction employs a pretty small portion of the population in GP. Everything else has been fairly slow. There's probably more welders in GP than road workers.

True. But a good, smart welder will adapt. The guys that don’t owe $140,000 on there rig will be fine. The others will go find work or turn there keys over.

I could be wrong but I believe highway 16 is the responsibility of the jurisdiction it passes through. Not federal

I'm pretty sure its federal jurisdiction as its the trans Canada hwy. However I believe maintenance falls in on the provincial level for funding district level to get the work done.

Regardless, Alberta highways aren't that good.

Isnt the trans canada highway #1

Edit: never mind I see it splits off into different routes.

I did some road construction in GP this summer before I changed jobs, we came from Edmonton...Lots of out of town contractors; just like the assholes installed fibre optic cables for Telus are out of towners.

You want to see bad highways go to Saskatchewan lol

I’ve driven to Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, PA, GP, Edmonton, Calgary, Vernon, Kamloops, Vancouver, and around Vancouver Island in the last 6 weeks. The roads from Ponoka to GP are by far the worst I drove on. (don’t ask about the new job...and no, I’m not a trucker or courier)

What is really pissing me off is the AUPE and ATA and their constant whining and complaining.
I sure don't see them offering to help Alberta get our budget under control.
Kenney is up against the socialist agenda and the leftist media so the non thinking people are upset with him.

Does it sort of sound similar to Trump's situation? Most everyone is against him.

I was in Saskatchewan in the '90's and the same thing was happening; closing hospitals and tightening the budgets. They are in pretty good shape now. It has to be done and there is no time like early in a term.

Alot of our problems, lately, are Covid related. People are deferring their taxes and mortgages or unable to pay them.
I know the City of Edmonton has stopped all repairs on their buildings unless its an emergency. If they can bandaid it for now, they will.
Less money in, less to spend. The same for the provincial level.

I agree with everyone, the healthcare is a bloated carcass with so many unnecessary positions.
Dump 2 managers and hire a Doctor.
But now Kenney is going to a US style system. I don't recall this being presented to the public.
He just threw it out there and said its happening.
If you're a Doctor, where would you lean too? Your health be damned, lets look at your wallet first.

What a bunch of hyperbolic crap.....What is a "US style system"? One that is actually efficient?? One where the doctor makes the decision on care instead of a bureaucrat?
