Hey, I doo that all the time. The handicapped stalls are all full of jacked up Super Duty's from the dudes with the sandals and white shades, so where else can an ol' fart park?

You ride doo, that is a shoe in on your application for a handicap stall, Doug! LOL ;)

I didnt read the entire thread, maybe somebody already posted this, but very relevant to the thread if not.

Council Says Yes to Wholesale Sports Variance Requests

Wholesale Sports renovating a new location in PG, want less parking stalls and much smaller than city bylaws. I guess they only cater to import vehicles?

And who owns wholesale sports??.....UFA (farmer owned)......kinda ironic......not too many farmers driving smart cars......maybe the farmers who own it don't shop there

Plio is right. I used to be in the Civil Eng biz (survey summers, design draft in winters) and I recall designing some parking lots on Autocad...had to be certain sized stalls and certain number of handicapped spots...plus certain grading for drainage. There are specs for EVERYTHING right up to the color and width of the lines used. I think minimum width was 3.17m.....?

Edmonton city spec is 2.7m x 5.4m looked into it a bit today. This has been the same spec since 1979.

I haven't been in that biz for 15 yrs...3.17 jumped out for some reason...I killed those brain cells with beer long ago apparently.

the regional planning commission used to set all the specs for the red deer and surrounding area, not sure who does it now, been close to 25 yrs since i had anything to do with that, anyway the city of Edmonton, Calgary, municipalities etc have there own requirements (specs etc. ) based on provincial guidelines and zoning laws. most of the new retail outlets etc, are presenting to zoning authorities provincial motor vehicle statics pointing to vehicles becoming smaller. thus they have made parking stalls smaller in size. now where are these stats coming from, hmm bet it's Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal etc.

and plio please tell me how a 21 ft long truck fits into a 19 ft parking spot, and how you open a friggin door on a 6ft wide truck in a 9ft parking space, like to see you squeeze that one out. haha.

yes i agree a guy taking up 4 spaces is a tool. easier to park in the back row, and back in, thus i don't have the truck in the driving lane, i may take up more than 9 ft width though , maybe 10 ft, the old standard.

those are just the minimum, the standard according to my architect, and going off of the buildings I have been involved with is 6m x 2.75......not a lot bigger but gives a little more wiggle room. also, my titan is the exact same width as your ford, I manage to fit between the lines and open my doors with out banging into other vehicles. for length let your nose stick out, its not the end of the world, how many vehicles (even small cars do you see parked all the way back into the stalls? if your nose is out by a foot and a half so be itm you should be ok being the lane width has to be a minimum of 6M, more than enough for people to pass by.

Kia spectre solid 4 stalls the old lady just drove into the lot slammed it in park and away she went parked right between a bunch of perfectly parked trucks and cars. Guess the old 98 Kia was a classic or something
