i park at the outside of the lot, still someone will pull in beside, man you got 40 spots to chose from wtf, had a bad parking day hehe

I do that all the time,,but only after 10 beer[,,but seriously,i allways park waythe hell away and walk,,i hate the idiots that pull right in beside you.

People just need to learn to stop being in such a rush all the time... Either take the time to park properly or learn to walk a couple extra feet and park further away.
Another d0uche to add to the list are those who park in a handicap stall when they don't have a sign. THAT is a pizz off!!

no. they do not pay off the towns as far as i know, but they put proposals to the town/city council, for approval of there parking layout, less overall parking area means a larger retail building. they need to set aside larger spots at the outside edges of parking lots, would solve most problems, i surveyed out a few parking lots and shopping centers back in the day. have sat and watched people tour the parking lot several times to get close to the door, not sure why, as they would have already been in the store if they parked a few spots farther away on the first tour. haha.


from what i can remember, all retail outlets are required to have so many parking stalls for there designated retail area, smaller spots =same number of spots in a smaller area. and parking lots don't make them money but are a necessary evil at this time

Its called social engineering,, Im sure city council realises that ALOT of people in Alberta
drive big honkin trucks and SUV's that dont fit in the spots. Its a way of trying to get you
to drive a smaller car... It Wont work tho,, Im drivin the peterbuilt to the mall from now on...lol

What pisses me off is people parking in the handicap stalls and for people with children stalls! Usually one douche in the car perfectly able to walk. I don't even park there when I have my young kids with me as I am able to carry them. Been many times I wanted to slap a dirty diaper on their windshield. But still the handicap ones really gets me, not always young people either.

lol.......city council does nothing more than say a stall cannot be smaller that a certain size which I believe is in the area of 18' by 9' this is submitted by the architect to the municipality for approval. the city does not in any way decide the size of the stalls other than to say this is the minimum allowed size. weather or not you require a certain # of stalls relies on the zoning regulations for that area......................with that said yes in down town cores they are pushing for less parking, more green space, and fewer stalls (not smaller stalls) to encourage the use of public transportation, and to keep down on traffic congestion.

Really? My families company paints all kinds of lines for the City of Red Deer,Edmonton,Fort Mcmurray ext... and also for private buisnesses in those towns. You could be right tho,, Ill talk to an architect to see for myself. Pretty sure they have to meet city requirements.

by all means man, I may be wrong with some of my factoids but I am involved in a lot of commercial building construction and have never had the town/city tell us stalls were too big and to down size but have had them make us have lines repainted because the stalls were too small. the design does have to meet zoning regulations, and they are very picky on the number of handicapped stalls you need based on total # of stalls. but for the most part the design comes directly from the architect who will normally design to get max # of stalls out of the allowed area while staying within the regulations

Plio is right. I used to be in the Civil Eng biz (survey summers, design draft in winters) and I recall designing some parking lots on Autocad...had to be certain sized stalls and certain number of handicapped spots...plus certain grading for drainage. There are specs for EVERYTHING right up to the color and width of the lines used. I think minimum width was 3.17m.....?
