Matt Niddrie is the last person I will contact....... I could tell you many stories of his "volunteerism" and "not for profit".......

I may have to log back into Facebook to post this up though, but no affiliation to his group.

I've heard a few stories so I'm not surprised. lol

I dont know much about this particular area, but it's not always just the campers. Lots of losers from the city just come out to dump garbage and that's it.

If you listen to the podcast that's one of the things the guy from the county says

Even if you drive all the backroads like i do, because i hate hi-ways and people in general. People dump their garbage on the side of roads and approaches to fields. Fridges, couches, beds, ect... if i see someone hauling something, i follow from a distance People are lazy and wont take the extra time to drive to a dump/landfill. Rural areas will always be a dumping ground to ignorance. Myself and my rural neighbors have had enuff.

There's a thread on Alberta Outdoorsmen about this area. One guy on there is fairly convinced its a lot of locals dumping garbage out there. People are slobs, this only fuels the fire to ban anything recreational in the outdoors. One would hope that there'd be a receipt or mail with an address on it so the garbage could be returned...

Why would locals dump in there own backyard? I know a spot off the Yellowhead at Bevington Rd, and the area was monitored with a game camera and no one dumping was from anywhere near the area, that was caught dumping. There is a sign as well for legal reasons (No Dumping)

There is a local waste transfer site near this area by westlock, why would people dump garbage in there backyard.

Probably to avoid any fees?

Buddies wife posted pics on Facebook the other day of some bags of garbage dumped in one of their bin yards. Of course animals got into them and they are spread all around. Good news is there was 2 prescription bottles inside with the persons name on it. He found the persons Facebook page and plans on returning it to them the same way he found it, spread around. They live in Drumheller. Funny thing under their name on their Facebook page they have the inscription "recycle-reuse". They will get that opportunity soon. They drove approximately 30 minutes give or take to dump it.

Amazing how folks will not pay the waste transfer site or dump fees but will spend more then that on fuel to drive and dump in these other areas.
I agree with the game cameras to monitor these areas. Then a large fine sent in the mail like a photo radar ticket. Starting at a minimum of $ 500.00 first offence.

Couple problems are the transfer stations often refuse to accept many items. Nothing should be rejected! And all disposal fees should be paid at time of purchase like tires, oil, paint, and electronics.

Items like fluorescent lamps containing mercury are a complete pain to dispose of environmentally. I would bet many companies changing out fluorescent lighting for LEDs are just smashing hundreds of fluorescent lamps in a dumpster.

At our shop, we have a large dumpster and this time of the year, it is usually filled on any weekend, with yards clippings, branches, grass etc.. People too lazy to drive to the dump or to the recycle station, just down the street. Pisses me off, and some day i will put a game camera there, and have them charged!

Make sure you have big warning signs that are in a few spots that are viewable in the game camera view. That’s pretty much a game changer. They can’t say “well there’s a bin there”

Another thing that frustrates me in my area is the Fawking peace offices!

There is a small area on campsite rd just north of spruce that is common for people dumping trash. Over the last number of years the area constantly crawling with multiple peace officers all driving pick up trucks. These lazy fawkn peace officers back their pickups next to the piles of dumped garbage and stake out the easy pickings of speeders campsite rd. The road got upgrade from blown out Chinese pavement to better than lots of highways a bunch of years ago but they kept the speed limit at 80. These peace officers get their quick quota of easy tickets of people doing 100 km then go nap in the Muir lake parking lot for the rest of their shift! Garbage pile still stirring at the dump location. These public servants should be forced to pick up the garbage and load it in their trucks, Maybe then they might start monitoring the garbage dumping instead of just writing east speeding tickets!

Pretty sure it’s the urban residents from spruce that are too lazy to find out where a dump is and pay the fees. Easier to drive 5 min out of town and dump their couch.

That’s sh*t drives me crazy. Last weekend I took my kids out to have a camp fire and shoot some guns. Every spot that I wanted to go to was filled with garbage ranging, including couches, appliances, down to plain old trash. It’s pretty gross!

Lazy or cheap! Most don’t want to pay the tipping fees at the landfill.

May 15 is the date.

We need people to commit, I'm not going out there with 4 of us, that's not enough to make a difference.

We have funds from AOHVA.

RXN has volunteered his time and some equipment.

Nobody else has contacted me or committed.
