Is tunnel extension necessary if I want to extend my track f/ 153"-162" in my M1000??

If I want to extend my track from 153" to 162" in my M1000, is it necessary to extend the tunnel as well?
I'm looking at boosting my M1000 w/ a boondocker and I've heard it's very wise to run at least 162" in that case. So, if I were to order say a timbersled suspension kit in 162", would the stock tunnel suffice? Or do I have to replace that as well?

Thx for any input

I lengthened my from 153 - 162 had to take my snow flap off to run it though. but since i damaged the rear of my tunnel pulling a sled out, i'm going to lengthen it now.

I did the oposite shortened.I quickly measured the skid and a 153 is approx 5" shorter. If that helps.

I woulkd recommend the KMOD rear skid as they work very well with turbo'd sleds and helping keep the ski lift under control. What year is your Sled? Cause in my opinion if you lengthen the track i would definitely also lengthen tunnel. On the cats '09 and newer alls you'd need is new tunnel cap and rear bumper that'd run you about 220.00 i think and then some different cooler hoses to accomadate the rear cooler moving back by 4.5"

I just did mine, 153 to 162 and debated the same thing. honestly, the tunnel extension was the cheapest part and quite easy to do.

2 $10 hoses from Napa and bunch of rivets, a $120 162" extension and a bumper (my old aftermarket one still fits) and you are good to go.

i am in the process of extending the tunnel on mine cause it is a 2008 and the cooler is curled at the end and first drop i do i think it will rip the cooler off. I was going to try it but loading it on the trailer it was tapping the cooler edge with the track.

I would be really worried about the snow flap getting jammed up under tunnel and doing major damage without the tunnel extension....plus i have seen a sled with a longer track than a tunnel without a snowflap but it must overheat on the trail and looked really bad!
