Yes the bait sleds have cut down on the theft but it still happens. I’m positive there are people watching out for likely targets - for example a rare show car at a local hotel just happened to disappear overnight this past summer. Crooks are paying attention , we are on the radar.

Where is the money coming from to pay these prices in revelstoke? Is it Alberta people or lower mainland money?

Comes from all over. Out east and out of country, some from Alberta, lots from Quebec, lots of Ausies. People from all over the globe.

I have a nice piece of property in Trout lk that is near the water with way less crime and population that I'd be willing to part with for a fraction of that price!! Just puttin it out there for you guys wanting to ride the best!! P.M me

The question I have is how high is it going to get? Is that 600g place going to be 2 million in 10 years, or will it go other way possibly at some point?

There are always corrections Fort Mcmurray might be the best example. All of a sudden a fire (increase in supply)and drop in demand due to commodity prices(workers jobs) and your 800k house is worth 400k. Or a big government policy change like in Vancouver can also happen. Ask the US how a market works on speculation it will rise forever. In revys case biggest threat IMO would be large hike in interest rates something today’s generation myself included have not seen 6 or 7% is not crazy talk it’s a historic norm. Or what if province released huge amounts of crown land for development. Ski hills seem to be bulletproof even the greenies tree huggers and caribou bs seem to be immune to them, you guys always get the snow in Revy so that cow can be milked forever.

Big portion of my business is at the local resort. 90%of home owners are Albertans and a few from Sask, Man, Ont. Many houses in the range of 1-2.5million and they sit empty 90% of the year.

So revy is kinda getting to be outta the question.

Next best place?

I just went down that road for the last two years. I chose Salmon Arm. Inventory is low right now but a good mix of old and new houses are available. The view property or water front property in the area is expensive particularly if the square footage is large (in the 2000+ range) but it is manageable and doesn't have to break the bank. SA has NG whereas, Revy, Golden, and Sicamous don't. We all know what is going to happen to price of electricity and propane is already expensive. South of us (Kelowna/Vernon/Penticton), the prices are crazy high. SA has nice amenities, decent taxes, and best of all pretty much in the heart of the outdoors. Water, land, and snow are readily available. With the snow scene, it is amazing. So many areas to ride within a short driving distance (I was driving (80-90 km living in Elkford to reach the Fernie snow belt and that was about an hour worth of my time more or less). Mountain after mountain and staging area after staging area.

The boating is endless and the season is quite long. Naturally, the logging roads are numerous and quadding would be second to none. We are liking it quite nicely and it will only get better from here on in.

I was set on revy so much until the prices scared me away, was debating Golden but you brought up good points.

Sicamous and malikwa are good options too, cheaper than salmon arm

Closer to revy,

When we looked 6 plus years ago, a shanty of a 1930 house was same price as brand new house in say red deer

Friggin crazy really, plus everything in revy is more expensive, and getting stuck there for 3-4 days is a every winter issue
