Is it too cold??

So our first trip of the season is planned for next weekend to Valemount. I just looked at the weather for next weekend -37 for lows!!!!!!!!!!! Highs of - 21........Not sure if we should change weekends or tough it out as it is our first trip

I went riding in Golden last weekend in -18 and I wouldn't go out in any colder weather.

We are planned for that weekend too. Its pretty cold temps but we are going for it and hoping it warms up and the weather forecast is wrong like usual.

Well The weather network gives the -37, environment canada shows in -20s so who do you believe lol.......I think we will go for it, just need the rest of my group to agree lol

Dress warm, stay in the trees, don't ride the trail too fast and take extra clothes in a waterproof bag. Other than that go someplace with a warming cabin and have fun. I've ridden in McBride when it was -30, it was sunny with no wind so it wasn't all that bad.

Well, weather changes, there is inversion, forecasts are wrong, warming cabins, first trip planned for a while must go lol

We rode McBride at -31 a couple years ago. It was OK once you were up top and riding. The trail was no too bad if you went slow and made sure you had no air gaps between your helmet and balaclava. (Everybody ended up with a bit of frostbite from balaclavas moving on the trail). We got though and had a good time...........but I personally wouldn't do it again.

Dress warm-Go for it . I'm going up north this weekend and we put the sleds it a shed with a wood stove so starting in the morning is great. Just have trouble keeping the beer liquid.

Why don't you ride Revy or Sicamous instead. Not so cold.

rode -31 last year in mcbride, not worth it as far as i'm concerned. frost bite is fast and painful, breakdowns very dangerous , overnights will test your survival skills, all the trees are green and may not light.
i know i will stay home next time. -20 is my stay home temp.

sh1t happens at -30 ..its all fun n games during the day up high when it warms up ..sooner or later you have to get back to the truck ..and if you are burnt out and sweaty it only takes a short time in the wrong circumstance to become a statistic

went too valemount one yr and it was -38 at the night of the trip...was -30 the next morning but we drove all that way..turned out to be an awsome day.temperture was -10 up at 6000ft.temperture inversion is very common in the mountains..nothing is garentead though

We have rode McBride in the past when it was - 25. It is not the best if there is even a slight wind. If you find yourself getting cold, look for some stuck Yamahas. Getting those pigs out of the depp will have you sweating all day long!

I'm thinking you're from the Edmonton area....Fernie is about 6-7 hours away and the forecast is for -17 next weekend.

With inversions, it could be really nice!! We are not cold like some of the northern areas.....just saying

I think w eare going to chance it, environment canada says lows of -26 and highs at -19 or -20 so who do you believe, plus it is a week out yet. Revy would be a good choice too, just need to do a bit too much convincing others to go there instead.

was out on the quad today, minus 20 when we started, warmed up to bout minus 17 with sun, then back to minus 20-21 by the end of the day. I'll ride all day in -25 no issues, but any colder than that i'm never on my own, and usually dressed or have the tools to stay warm in the coldest possible weather.

The biggest piss off about the -30 and colder, is that the beer freezes faster than you can drink it . . . .

So even with all Klim gear would -30 be cold? curious because I had a guy with all Klim gear tell me he was on the side of the mountain drinking beer in the snow bank at -30 and wasn't even cold. true? If so I will have to be getting some full Klim dress.

The weather channel is wrong usually 7 out of ten times. Don't let a little rumor spoil your fun
I've ridden in -30 a few times, short trips and then warm up. Not in the mountains tho'.
A bad day a sledding is better than a good day sitting at home............just saying
