I'm looking for help for my buddy he is looking at a 2003 polaris vertical escape 159. It has 2500kms on it and is in very good shape with full pipe y pipe and can and has nitrous on it and he wants $4500 for it. He says it only has had one bottle of nitrous ran through it in the mountains and he never went back then just used it around the farm and lake. I'm wondering if this is a fair price and what should we check to see if its in good shape should we compression test it and what should it be at? Thanks for any help in advance we both don't much about sleds as we are just getting into it and I got burned pretty bad buying a used firecat two years ago.

would think that the 2500 is miles not km's.there known to have crank issues at 3-3500 miles, buddy blew his at 3100 total rebuild.price is a little steep.

That sled was not even worth $4500 when it was in the showroom. Vertical escape should have been called "Sled for chumps that think it will climb" from small red neck towns.

I sold my 2003 800 Vertical Escape in 2006. It had SLP ceramic twins and SLP intake. Sled was like new with about 1500 miles on it. I sold it for $5000.00.

I agree with dooryder, that's quite a bit for an 03. I also agree with OOZigZag..for that kind of money get a Rev for $4000 to $5000 if you plan on doing any mountain riding. You won't regret going to that style of chassis.

I'm a licensed kijiji sled hunter...

One thing I've found by looking on kijiji is email the ads without pictures for pictures. 80% of the time they will email pictures to you. I'm not sure if its because there not computer savvy, or if the sleds are stolen.

Offer $1000 less than list price, they usually drop $500 right away, than try to drop them another $500.

That sled is waaay overpriced like everyone said, he would be lucky to get $3500.

Check out the Rev sleds section for tons of info on what to look for and look out for. Summer 2008 I bought a real nice 04 800 Rev,stock with the 159" track with 1600kms for $5000. You can get that same sled now for $4000, give or take few bucks. Much nicer ride the Escape. (IMO)
