All,
looking for some help or ideas on what might be the problem.
2014 XM 800 163"
Rode most of today in Revy and around noon I started my sled and the gauge cluster didn't light up or come on, headlight was very dim (barely on) and no tail light. However there must have been some electricity generation as the sled ran.
I needed to get out of a bad spot so I pinned it up the hill and it was definitely underpowered and didn't like anything near WOT.
We decided to end the day and try to get my sled back to the trailer and avoid a chopper ride.
I rode it it all the way to the trail and managed to get it back to the trailer. Part way down we took a break and when I fired it up, everything worked, however I drove it over a few whoops and the cluster, lights etc died again. Got it to the trailer shut it off before loading it into the trailer. When I started it to load, everything worked fine again.
Im thinking stator/magneto, capacitor or loose connection/short somewhere.
we pulled the gauge cluster a few time to make sure the wires were connected properly and checked the fuses. Everything on that front was fine.
What happens to a sled when the stator goes? Can it still be driven like I did?
