did'nt know you needed class 6 to insure a dirt or street bike. having a class 5 allows you to ride as a learner with a licensed class 6 rider. should check around....

Well you do need a class 6 to ride on the street on your own. My only purpose is to use my dirtbike on trails and apparently, if I want to insure it, some insurance companies require you to have a class 6 motorcycle licence.

I know there are some insurance companies that will insure off-road bikes without a class 6, I'm just having trouble finding them.

Thanks!

c/p email from Dyck Insurance Wetaskiwin....when asked if class 6 is needed for street or dirt....
"you can insure a dirt bike or street bike with only class 5 -- you do pay a higher premium - of course if you are caught driving by yourself with only a class 5 you'd be ticketed and maybe bike impounded."

yeah thats right, i use DYCK insurance...

Who writes your other insurance in your life???
Many companies are not willing to write your high risk policy if they dont write you low risk policies.

I must of made a dozen calls before I found someone who would quote insurance. Co-operators in Calgary had no problem selling me insurance for my RMZ-450 without a Class 6.

Hey Thanks Man!

I found another company called BlueCircle, that would for $600 a year. That's a pretty penny.

My buddy's insurance provider said he'd pay half of what he does if he gets his class 6. He's near 600 now and it will be 300 if he gets his license.
