Installed Rigid Backup Lights, a must!

Well the days are getting shorter and I'm sick of the horrible lighting behind the truck for both reversing and for trailer hookups etc. I ordered a set of Rigid SrQ Pro flush mount back up lights and got to work on the install. It's pretty basic install but you have to have some balls cutting into the stock bumper. I used a dremel and went through 9 cutting disks!

The switch is a 3-way meaning when it's up the lights stay on forever, middle is off and down the lights only come on when I put it in reverse. It's a pretty kickass system that shoots a lot of light out back now, even through the tinted windows.

Yeah most bu lights suck. Chev finally added those lights to the mirrors. Live them for backing up in the dark. How much were the lights?

Been wanting to do this for awhile. Did you protect the cut edge of the bumper to prevent rust? That's what's been holding me up so far.

I just painted the back with tremclad black spray paint and used a brush on the edges. Hoping that does the trick.

Unless that's a pavement princess, I'd do something to protect the back of the light. I have the exact same truck and I have chips in my bumper that come from the backside of it.

No im not too worried about a rock hurting the light. I’ve ran Rigid lights on every vehicle/toy and they are dam near indestructible.

I had some clown back into me at the mall parking lot and left me a nice dent in my bumper. I was going to cut out the dent rather than buy new bumper

Do it and buy a flush mount light to fit.

I bought the same reverse bulbs last fall and it’s definitely better than stock, but still wasn’t enough for me.

I just mounted some Rigid lights facing backwards on my headache rack. HUGE difference.

Looks good. Added similar Rigids to the rear bumper on my last truck.. Only thing i didn't like was the light was so bright it made it hard to see in the backup cam..

Those look awesome how did you wire them!? Like on a switch or right in with the reverse lights

If u read his post they are on a 3 way switch. On off and on with reverse

Well I decided to add a few more LEDs and what a huge difference. I ordered a set of four 4" LEDs from Amazon for $45 and wired them into the Rigid SRQs Harness. This vid doesnt do it justice it is so bright 360 around the truck. Great for backing up obviously but also great for trailer hookups or setting up the campsite and you cant really see them when not on.

Like the idea of the 3-way switch. Just have mine on a switch & wired a small buzzer into it so they don't get left on in the daytime.
