So today i finally realized how damn cold it is here and decided it's time to start putting together a ice fishing shack for the winter. Has anyone built on before? Does anyone have blueprints or plans of any kind just so we have a basic plan?

only plans so far are at least 6 holes and it's gonna have a Wood stove

Im sure for a picture of your sister a few guys would help ya out.

I was in one last year, made of 2x4s ripped in half. Builder said if he was to do it again he would use 2x6 ripped in half. Foam panels for insulation and 1/4" panels on the outside. Built it all on skids so it could be dragged out by truck

Actually last year or two years ago the rep for this company was cruising around Sylvan Lake in one of these baked as a MOFO. He came and had some drinks with our group. The next day he showed up again and i took it for a rip. Awesome machine just EXPENSIVE. Fun as hell to drive.

No pictures for you!

We will use pink panther insulation i think. the shack will go out in december and come back in once the ice starts to get soft. we leave them out there all season

But if one is an avid fisherman....nothing is too expensive! It saves on the purchase of a couple of sleds to get out to "the spot", you're out of the wind, nice seats, auger clamp, heater, radio/TV, solar panel, you'd be the envy of everyone on the lake.....just think of the potential :beer::beer:

Made one a few years ago that was 10 x 10 and 4 holes with bench seating all around. Made with 2x4s and plywood we had laying around. Put a propane heater in it with zero insulation and it was comfortable with a sweater on in it. 12v lights with solar panels and battery. Never had a problem with it at all over the winter. Made a steel skid frame with a cantilever setup with a winch to lift the ass end with wheels and hooked a truck up to it to move it. Weighed a few thousand pounds but was worth it. No pics tho as it didnt float when the ice melted.

Oh it's an amazing machine no question. Just about $54,000 out of my price range

A buddy of mine bought an old truck camper for $50. Tinfoiled the windows, cut 4 holes through the floor, and built a 4" skid underneath it. He mounted alittle 1000watt genny on the front of the skid to run the furnace and lights. Worked perfect.

This was the first kind of shack I fished in myself, kind of hill billy looking, but you can get them cheap and they last a long time!!!! chances are its already wired for lights and it has a front door and it may be insulated and windows. How great is that!!!!

But since then we built a new one, out of 2x2 and 2x4 and it only lasted three winters, lol, pulling it to shore and hit a ridge, top half separte from floor.....now we just use portable ones!!

Take a look at this website, it should give you a ton of ideas, i'm in the middle of building a wheelhouse that drops down on the ice.. WELCOME TO FISH HOUSE FOR SALE

All those ones are so fancy! The one i used to have in sylvan was simple two benches facing eachother with six holes in between them and a cabinet and a shelf above each bench with a big wood stove

my buddy made one out of an oil pump shack...its 12 x 12.
he insulated it and found a skid for it.
he built benches on the sides and put in a wood burning stove.
it was hot in there...

We built ours out of 2x3's found them at home depot and used the 4x8 sheets of smart board siding for the outside. 1'' rigid foam 3/8 osb on the inside and a wood stove school bus seats 2 2'x3' holes. Then built the skid out of 2 7/8 pipe, stick the tiger torch in the ends of the skids to un thaw and pull it right off the lake. 8x12 over all heavy as hell but slids nice on the pipe
