We were riding north of Edson on the power line 3 of us hit a trench 10' deep just off the road to Silver summit I was the first to land in bottom I can never go over a hill fast just because of holes and trench i still landed in the hole over the handle bars I go felt like a up side down turtle .Another regular rider to the area landed beside me and then my son was going way to fast and slam the bank on the opposite side hurt his arm and damage his new 2012 summit .I am just glad it wasn't worse than it was it could been a lot worse it does it matter how good or how safe you are as a rider chit happen fast the saving grace is all we got was couple sore bodies and a damage summit which turn out the parts we need are a reasonable price .Been that we went over we left tracks up the hill so we put red plastic ribbon across the top I just hope no one does the same as us. We mange to drive all the machine home that night.

As long as you all walked/rode away. Good on you for leaving the ribbon too.

Yes, those things suck. They are all over the place.

Summer project with the quad. Pound in some re-bar before and after the ditch and ribbon it.

I used to doo that same stupid thing year after year; riding along thinking about things and giving it and every year there would be a time that I would hit one of those because of not concentrating on the trail. Chit happens.

Glad everything turned out pretty good.

We have a few regular ones behind my house, I laid some logs across them in the summer and now the snow has covered it.

Something like that just a bit west of Tobin Lake here in SK. I lawn darted it just before New Years. Had a bent front bumper and a nice big bruise on the thigh as souvenirs. Damn thing was full of rocks and like 12 feet deep. Got sled turned along the ditch and tried to drive out and caught the left ski under a big rock for the dismount. More hazards of sledding.

tell your county manager about those holes. we have em here too, but try to fill em in with cat in summer, and groomer in winter.there is provincial money there for fixing the trails.lot of those trenches are purposely dug by oil companys and forestry to keep vehicles out., but they dont mark them with warning signs.

Sorry for your bad luck. Pick up the phone ,mla? someone should tell you who to call? most of us pack out what we take in yet some company can just leave trenches behind. WTF
