I dont think so. There was about 5 guys or possibly more when I went by trying to get it out of the bowl.

Yes Hunters Range is a big area, much bigger then Owls Head or Blue Lake. It has some of the best meadow and tree riding between Enderby and Revelstoke and mostly stay's in subalpine areas. Great for people that don't like the big stuff or having to pull chutes.
Plus you can make some pretty cool connections to Owls Head, Cook and Park Mtn on the east side of Mabel lake.

The parking will be at the Ashton creek staging, basically 10min from Enderby off the Mabel lake rd, there is a sign. There are 2 parking areas, the lower and upper parking, i recommend the lower parking if your hauling a 4 place. The upper parking the road is at best very icy especially at the switch back, i've seen plenty get in trouble pulling trailers to the upper lot.
The main chalet is approx. 27km from the parking lots and the trail is generally decent. At the upper lot you will have 2 options to take for trail. Either one will meet at about 24-25kms and will lead you to the main chalet.
The Gordon Sydney cabin is about 10km from the main chalet and the trail at times is groomed but eitherway any trails heading in the Gordon Sydney direction tend to end there. There are a heck of alot of tree riding between the two cabins.
Beyond Gordon Sydney, your now getting in to the Saddle area, you can head towards Owls Head or Cook Creek and even towards Park mtn but i recommend the use of a map or GPS, it is very easy to get messed up and turned around.

Bought memberships to Hunter's along with our Eagle Valley club memberships this year. First trip to Hunter's was yesterday. An exploration trip for sure. Rode up Ashton and came back on Brash. The cut blocks are brutal and need a horrendous amount of snow to cover the debris but the meadows at the top are awesome. Lots of play areas and one can be tired before they reach the Ashton Chalet. We got a little side tracked trying to get to the Gordon Sydney cabin and followed a beaten path that didn't lead to the cabin. Here were two guys riding double trying to pack a trail up/down a drainage so they could pull a sled out. A throttle block problem with a newer Polaris and the second Polaris just didn't have enough power/track to pull the dead sled up the drainage. Being the backcountry Ambassadors that we are, we got out the tow rope and hooked onto the leading Polaris and we got the dead sled up the 400' elevation change in the narrow drainage and to the cabin. It was a nice adventure, found some first hand information about the area, and met a couple of very appreciative young fellows.

We never made it to the Gordon Sydney cabin so that will be another day. I toured around the Okanagan/Shuswap many years ago and was impressed with the ingenuity of the old timers towards the installation of the unique cabin stoves. The Ashton Chalet in Hunter's is no exception. Does that stove throw out the heat!!

Ferniesnow. Great comment. Hunters is by far my favorite area. Especially since I have switched to snowbikes - it is heaven for them. The tree riding is unbeatable.

Rode hunters today parked at 4km on Ashton lots of trucks parked in the upper parking lot Great first ride snow was better than expected couple ft of pow on 31/2 base went back to Gordon Sidney dropped down into the bowl snow not so good there need a couple more ft Headed back to the main chalet and messed up some meadows on the was out I also found a black Maximum tool case on the way out Pm me if it’s yours

rode hunters today, parked 5km up brash. icy on road. some serious ice crust below couple inches of snow, hard riding conditions. need bunch of new snow and be dicy when it sits on that layer.

I keep wasting money on these gas cans too. They never stay in their track properly. They expand and bulge from the sun then fall out of track. I’ve been putting a tarp strap across cans and seems to help keep them on tunnel. Doo has a great setup with the link.

Got fed up with the gravel and the whoops at little further east of home and decided to try Hunter's yesterday. A very pleasant surprise!! The upper parking lot has snow and the trail has snow from the get-go. Minimal peeps and the trail was great! High five's to the groomer operator. Lots of untouched tree riding if one ventures off the beaten track. Yes, the open areas and the climbing up around Gordon-Sydney cabin are rode out and need a reload. The snow pack is meager; I probed 185 cm on the wind blown side of a big meadow. Mixed bag of weather for the day from sunshine in the morning to the overcast, dull/flat light scenario in the afternoon.

Notice the hill in the last picture, virtually untouched in those trees!!

Good call. We went up Owjhead today and it is not good.
