Trailer brakes are overrated.......

I've ran my dump truck with my light trailer for years without putting a brake controller in, i'm lazy. It's not legal but i'm not concerned about pulling my skidsteer or mini hoe behind a tandem without brakes unless it's icy. It could haul it in the box, the truck stops it fine.

So that’s awesome that you don’t need trailer brakes... long and short of it is in a bad situation spiking your trailer brakes may straighten you out and get you back in control. Laws are made so we can send retards out on the road and have some kind of confidence that we are not going to die. Your vehicle is rated to stop a certain amount of weight. Add trailer and all bets are off.

Please stay off the roads . There is enough tragic deaths on our highways without you adding to it with your admitted laziness . GOOD GRIEF.

So when the trailer comes off the truck and goes across the highway and kills a family you’re ok with that thanks for being lazy

No, the trailer brakes work perfectly fine and if the trailer detached they would come on. Without the brake controller there is simply no trailer brakes for regular braking.

Yes it is rated for a certain weight, and as I said it is capable of hauling the trailer and what I haul on it IN the box. The trailer only weights a little over half of the truck. It’s like towing 3,000lb behind a 1 ton without brakes, I bet there is plenty who do that here, most single axle trailers I see don’t even have brakes.....

Nothing unsafe about it. If you think it is I’d really like a reasonable explanation why.
