Fill me in. Is their a Billionaires row in Smithers just like in Manhattan?

Just the tip of the iceberg. This time last year there were more houses for sale over 600k then under 400k. Effing crazy for a surroundings population of less than 10,000 people. Probably the only community in Canada where housing prices have NEVER gone down despite mill and mine closures, declining infrastructure and now lack of tourism. People are getting over 50% of assets values, oh and the tax per sq/ft rivals that of west Vancouver and many of them are on dirt roads.

Million dollars gets you 400sq feet in Manhattan. There is many 9 figure apartments. I think you get a bit better bang for yer buck in smithers bout 1000x better . But if you can make it there you can make it any where! haha

That's pretty close to acreage value here. If the taxes are correct, they are much cheaper then here. for 1.2 million value here you're looking at about $8,000 property taxes.

I know people that live on dirt roads, house values between 3-400k paying over $5000 in taxes. Ludicrous but this area is a NDP strong hold. Something has to pay for the rest I guess
