Talks of memorial naming the new Peace River Arena for Darcy, condolences to all

The more I see reported about this horrific accident the more difficult time I have comprehending it, from 3 different sides.

First having grown up in a small town and playing hockey through the ranks from Tiny Mites up to Junior B, spending hours travelling and the camaraderie among teammates on and off the ice, I can't begin to imagine the range of emotions the survivors are feeling right now.

Second, having put in 10 years as a volunteer firefighter and EMT and performing transportation for the medical examiners office I always figured I could keep it together in any situation but to respond to a call like this...I don't know.

Last but not least I feel for the truck driver. 30 years behind the wheel something like this was my worst fear. I have no doubt he would trade his life for one of those young players if nothing else but to end the gut wrenching feelings I'm sure he's having.

My thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to the Broncos survivors and families, all the first responders and to the truck driver and his family. #Humboldtstrong
