Even though the nuts and studs protrude the rims are pocketed allowing them to clear on the 2012's.

I have the same problem love the rims and i put some silver backs on and now i need spacers don't want to swap out cause they look sick so you r saying that i cant buy a spacer at my local shop that would work. Because the lug nut holes r the same size so so wouldnt that center the wheel.

They will work no matter what route you chose, although hubcentric is recommended by almost any manufacturer.

Interesting solution to the exact problem I am having. Old cats have a hub-centric design as well, with a flat "washer" type bolt to hold it on the hub (no recess in the rim though) . I kinda gave up on the idea, but maybe I can revisit this with your excellent idea.... And I was told the same things you were...."oh it'll be fine" "not needed" so on and so forth.

My rhino rims are centered with wheel nuts, my wheel spacers are also centered with wheel nuts,.. no hubcentric here and I have put over 2000km without a problem,.. just check the torque every time you go out.

Hubcentric is one thing, tapered lugs is another story.

It may work fine and it may turn your wheel into a cam lobe.

My aftermarket SS212's have the flat lug nut system, same with my buddy's ITP 112's on his RZR. ITP sells a zillion wheels a year with this system and no "hubcentric" ring to center the rim. Jus sayin'....

And I am just saying that it's not right either...... I realize now that most ATV riders could care less about wheel vibration, or their rims potentially falling off..... Because they live off the idea you probably will be fine.... Yeah I could toss the rings off my car and the rims might center enough to be okay..... but I am not going to.

This is just an FYI for those that have thought about doing this and never have.

I chose simply to do what is correct to ensure centering on the hub. Apparently that is a no no in this world, lol.

Read the title of the thread again if you must..... or how I have written multiple times I don't own your bike and it doesn't matter to me what you do to it. So once again, it's your machine, do whatever you want to it. "Jus Sayin........."

Just a quick question, could you mill (or have milled) the correct taper into your factory rims, and then use tapered lug nuts?

The hub is quite thin in the center and drilling the rims would most likely result in cracking.

Take it easy dude. Not knockin your workmanship or idea. Just saying that chances are good if the fit between the nut shoulder and the hole is pretty snug, with 4 nuts on there, you are going to pretty much centered. I've sure ITP has this figured out considering they sell a LOT of rims. I've had my machine well over 70 mph several times and it's pretty darn smooth for running 30" tires.

I had SS 212's on my old Honda and yes they had flat backed nuts. Never much cared as the thing didn't have the balls to even hit 50 mph hardly. I don't like ITP's though as they are heavy.... would never buy them again.

I realize what ITP sells and once again, I don't care.... it's not the proper way to attach a wheel on something.

I feel as though this requires a fight to the death.....

Sure, not the right way to do it, and at this point, I don't know if anyone is challenging that. I think, like you said originally, it's very much a case of "good enough" for some. To each, their own.

Thanks for the thread though, I know Rob was trying to figure out a way to get a hubcentric spacer.
