How to: Tint tail lights

Incase anyone was wondering how easy it is to tint your tail light(s) heres a quick How-to. I've had experience doing this to my truck, XP and now my Brute. So, if you want to tint your tail lights, heres how.

Before you tint 'em, heres a few tips.

Always tint in layers, allow the 1st layer to dry before moving onto the next coat and so on. You can always add tint, subtracting is hard.

Make sure there is no airborne particles floating about (do it in a clean dust free area, or your lights will look like chit!!)

If you want to keep your reverse lights clear (like on your truck) use electrical tape.

Anyways, on with the show.

Remove your stock tail light.

Remove your stock tail light, now is a good time to check to see if your gasket is doing its job and keeping water and mud out of your tail light assembly. Mine looked good so no need to replace anything. Also, clean the surface with Windex and a shop towel.

If your tail light is like mine, the clear piece doesn't need to be taped over, as it just pulls apart from the main assembly. You can choose to tint this piece as well, or leave it aside like I did.

Set the tail light on a surface easy to work with. I used this cheap 'ol plastic box so I don't get my concrete floor tinted as well. In this pic you can also see the type of tint I used. I got it at Canadian Tire. Autozone sells the same stuff, as well as Partsource.

Spray gently back and forth, repeat this process after the light dries until your satisfied with the shade.

I went all out with mine.

Also, don't forget to spray the edges and sides.

After its dry you can install the tail light again. As you can see I added a few more coats since the last pic. Its as black as my racks until I tap the brake, then its a clearly visible red.

No problem, glad you liked it. Its more for a visual thing. Its fairly easy to do if you know how to wield a spray can.

Yeah, me and my friends did it to our trucks. CanAm650 did it to his first, then I did it to mine, then we did our quads right after it looked so good, lol.
