Living in the Kootenays is great. I forget how ridicules the big city's are as I took in a trip to the okanagan this weekend. Busy to the point you spend more time waiting then doing.
reservations to camp??? Book way ahead.
No hotel rooms, sold out....at $200 plus I add.
icing on the cake was trying to eat breakfast, 1hr wait.
costco....really is everyone here at once!
So pi$$ed I drove home where life is good. Still do pretty much what ever I like and when I like... I like my bubble.
but even here it's getting crazy.
How do you like your bubble people....to busy?

Interesting you bring this up this only my third summer here but the traffic is noticeably higher. The shell station in sicamous has been out of fuel a few times and the attendant mentioned it is a record breaking year.

Poor dollar, popular vacation destinations plagued by civil unrest and diseases plus people feeling the end of summer approaching makes things busy.

Went to check out Niagara Falls this summer, That tourist trap was wall to wall people, to go into the tunnels was a 2 hour wait, "no thanks", there was a new zip line constructed (4 zip lines actually) Line up was easily 4 blocks long, could be an all day wait
"no thanks", the magnitude of the crowds just took the charm away from it all.... so... been there done that! , wont be back.

This weekend my biggest concern is saying hi to someone floating by on the NSR while I soak a ball of bait waiting for my fresh water shark. Hard times.

I envy you. I live just outside of Edmonton...that place is a real sh_t show now. Also getting real tired of jerks attacking the things I enjoy doing like shooting and atving. Seems like nobody can mind their own friggin' business anymore. I must be getting old, when I was a kid, you stuck your beak into somebody's business, usually got you a beat down. As they say, "The good old days"....

This country sadly, IMO is really screwed up.

Kelowna Costco is the worst, always busy and no parking and not even cheap gas. I'd rather swallow a knife than drive down Harvey on a weekend. SA is good but the camping thing is true, all sites are always full and it's a 4x4 show to get to anything resembling a 'secret' lake or camp spot.

went twice to Kelowna this weekend….. on Sat we launched the boat off Ellis St. and had a nice day cruising to Peachland and back. Traffic jam of boats though on the lake! Went to Costco yesterday……… what a HUGE mistake! I was pushing the cart and ended separated from wife and daughter as people just don't pay attn to their surroundings. My wife took one look at me and realized I was about to blow a gasket at some people LOL.

Thats why I don't go to Costco, I go to Joe's Deli or Kirks tire or Jill's office supply ext.

Yeah I spend a little more but I get to support small business and people I like, I don't have to wait in line all day and the person
taking my money gives a chit.

Costco membership? lmao get fawked

forgot to mentioned that because of all this busyness we committed to seasonal lot at Pierre's Point from next year. Lake front and can place a buoy for the boat. Leave the trailer all year round. Just 1/2 hr drive and all I need to pack is food and clothes. No more battling for camp spots and two trips for boat and RV.

Went to the Okanagan valley for first time in prob ten years you are absolutely right about the excesive amount of people at every stop luckily was there to visit an old friend who lives in Cawston so once we got to his place the parking battle was over (since Cawston is not a very big place). The Okanagan is definently a beautiful place to see but i will be sticking to less populated areas next year. as far as im concerened golden is as great of place as any. Lots of places to camp along kin basket lake where you will only see a handfull of others (if u find the right spots) and at least when you do see others they are there for the same reason as you so its usually a pleasant visit. maybe shouldnt give out my prime location for getting away from people but id be more than happy to run into S&M ers than any others

That's only 10 minutes from me, you keep the fridge stocked with lots of ice cold beer right?
